X3 Terran Conflict?
Just saw this on Play.com due for release in 26/9/08. Hadn't heard anything about this wondering if it was relevant or already know?

This should fuel the speculation a bit
Good find.
Release date of 26/09/2008 looks in the right ballpark if there was to be an 'X4'.
I never understood why people would advance-order on a product that might not exist for some while after the guestimate date (if ever).
Having said that, if I knew this was X4 & the money actually went to ES *now* (bet it wouldn't), then I think I might pre-order to increase the chances of completion.
As ever from ES Mums the word (can't blame them based on previous experiences).

Oh shut up ESD! We what Rampant speculation and unrealistic expectations. Not *pffft* facts!
On a more serious note, the thing about this that gets me the most curious is where have Play.com just conjured this up from? Presumably they're basing it on SOMETHING, even if it is just a rumour. I doubt they're in the habit of just making up products in the hope that somone eventually makes it
However if it is based on just a rumour then it seems strange that this rumour hasn't already made it to these boards and been widely discussed already.

They where my thoughts exactly when I posted, hence why I kept my post as neutral as possible (to reduce the backlash of a new thread about something already discussed to death). I'm one of those people who have been circling this forum for years; however I’m not always up to date with the latest threads. Naturally I only spotted this whilst looking for something completely different. Will be interesting if there is any basis for this but as Nyax said why would play make it up (I know the release date is probably a work of fiction). That is of course if this is actually an Egosoft product and not someone trying to cash in on the name. However if it is based on just a rumour then it seems strange that this rumour hasn't already made it to these boards and been widely discussed already.

It sounds like someone posted something they weren't supposed to. I would say it's credible to the point that it exists (I'd lay odds at it being 85% credible.) but almost no chance that release date is solid.
For those of you who aren't World of Warcraft fans, I'll now relate to you a story from back in the glory days of WoW.
Achem. When Blizzard first announced the Burning Crusade expansion, there was a predictable buzz of interest and speculation on the Warcraft forums. People were predicting everything from new classes and races to new instances and locations. It was a good time for all on the forums overall.
Then, one day, a post hit. A legendary post. In it were contained screenshots -- Dozens and dozens of screenshots of places we'd never seen before, and a race of elves we'd never played before. They were Blood Elves. The forums went wild talking about them. Blizzard would delete any thread about the screenshots almost immediately, which only fueled rampant speculation even further.
It went on like this for a week or two until the official announcement that Blood Elves would be the new race for the Horde.
What lesson can we take from this? Rampant speculation on the forums about accidentally leaked information can, in fact, force game companies to make announcements earlier than planned!

Alternatively, Blizz orchestrated it so that the information was there, then plucked away... causing people to talk about it.Gothsheep wrote:What lesson can we take from this? They may well have simply been using a known marketing trick

[conspiracy hat on]Gothsheep wrote:It's possible, but considering how they reacted later, especially in respect to the Draenei announcement, I don't think they expected it. Mostly because they didn't seem ready for it.
Well of course, they didn't want to make it too obvious that it was an artificial event!

Well if this thread gets locked/deleted and the item gets removed from play on Monday maybe we'll have an answer.

No no no, that's not how you do it.Mr Sage wrote:Well if this thread gets locked/deleted and the item gets removed from play on Monday maybe we'll have an answer.
First we have to start talking like we've already accepted this as fact. Going from there, we need to start speculating on things -about- it, like what's going to be in it, why it's called "Terran Conflict", things like that. Eventually Egosoft will have to address it one way or the other.

obviously "Terran Conflict" would be some sort of expansion for x3 i very much doubt it will be stand alone game. as to what it will do for x3. hopefully it will update some of the ship & station models and add quite a few more sectors. with more sectors and more things to shoot and loot you cant go wrong....unless this is just a ploy from some people in egosoft to create a buzz to gauge what potential sales would be for this kind of product.
and as for elite IV ... well thats been talked about for years

Ok, how about this:Gothsheep wrote:Going from there, we need to start speculating on things -about- it, like what's going to be in it, why it's called "Terran Conflict", things like that.

The Terrans expand outward from Heretic's End. But, they don't know the other races, and the first two ships they meet (Xenon and Paranid) attack them.
The Terrans decide all of the X races are hostile. And, when they meet the Boron and Argon they end up in a new fight, not realising that the Argon are their cousins!
Julian Brennan then has to avoid being killed by the Terrans, help the Argon to solve the misunderstanding, convince the Split not to make a sneak attack on the Terrans in support of the Paranid, and convince the Terrans that the Xenon attack was not really the Boron. Whew!!!

And all the while, defend against a Xenon attack on the Terrans and Argon in Circle of Labor, an invasion from Xenon sector 347.

(Note, the preceeding is Fiction and any similarity to actual games is purely coincidental.

ah, I think Terran Knew who the Argon at least, maybe Paranid, I think they most worry about is Xenon due to thier past. Kkaka and every race even Paranid is new to Terran, dont forget Terran never met Alien before or at least Earth never met any alien. Earth maybe think they are alone or not.
P.S maybe Terran or Goverment of Earth want full control Argon because it's belong to them in first place while Argon fight for freedom from Corrp of Goverment of Earth.

Remember, the Terrans basically stole Herritic's End from the Paranid. Sure the Paranid didn't want it and don't care about it, but the fact that Terrans came in and booted them out is probably going to irk them in a special way.Reader81 wrote:ah, I think Terran Knew who the Argon at least, maybe Paranid, I think they most worry about is Xenon due to thier past. Also don't forget that there's more going on then we know about by the end of X3. Remember -how- the gate got there in the first place.
