Post by Nividium »

Nividium - Mining Relay Station Custom X3 Reunion Script Package.

Name of Script Package Mining Relay Station
Version Number 1.00
Date Released 9/24/2007
Last Updated n/a
Script Created For X3 Reunion v 2.0.02
File Package Available X3 Script Installer "SPK"

Download the "SPK" file format package here: Mining Relay Station

Description:

This script package allows you to buy Paranid Crystal Splitter from any Paranid Shipyard. You buy it just as you would any other station using your own TL or by hiring one. The relay station has Products and Secondary Resources of: Ore, Silicon and Nividium. Make this station as a Homebase for your miners and mineral distributors and they will "Best Buy/Sell" and "Buy Ware" etc from this station. You will need to put some credits in there if you want your TS to buy wares for the station. Despite it having Resources, it does not produce anything, but acts as an attractant for your mineral handling ships if it is their Homebase.

Features:

- The Paranid Crystal Splitter Station produces nothing and has usual storage for wares.

- After the Station is placed in space, it takes about 1 minute for the station workers inside to reset the product and secondary resources for the station. Once they have done that, it is ready to act as a relay station to move minerals in and out of.

- This station should not be attached to any Complex.

- Warning: There is no uninstall to remove stations. Once you buy them, they stay. Ok.

Installation: Use the X3 Script Installer.

Uninstall: Use the X3 Script Installer.

Version History:
Version 1.00 Initial Release.

Command Slots Used: None

Just tested this script and it is working GREAT!!!

In my opinion this adds a whole new aspect to the game!

Now it is possible to set up forward mining operations in far flung sectors that your miners re-supply and different TS sell the minerals locally using "Sell Ware Best Price".

Note: For Bunny's Miners to work correctly with this script, you must first "seed" the station with some credits..They don't work free. :D

Note: It is now possible to central locate your minerals in one location and distribute them to these stations even if there is a shortage of that mineral in the stations local area. This can be done by using Nividium's "Warehouse" script (massive backdoor storage..done manually) or through your HQ by adjusting the price. Example: Store large amounts of nividium at your HQ..Set the price very low...Have TS from your outlying mineral operations buy the ware from your HQ to resupply their homebase. Nividium's script "Nividium as secondary resource" adds tons of new selling opportunities for your product. Nividium's "Sector Scanner" opened my eyes to the fact that there is large amounts of nividium rocks in the universe...All in all some great script combinations to enhance the game...Great Job Nividium!

Wow. You really know how to make a guy feel appreciated. Thanks for that very nice well written evaluation of my work. Kind of makes all the efforts worth while you know. :D

Yes, well I am a big fan of mining and saw that my favorite mineral was under utilized in the game with not very many people taking advantage of the great opportunities of Nividium. So now people can really get into mining and capitalize on the fun involved with mining.

It is also great that you and maybe others now, will see how the various script packages I have made "come together" and compliment each other.

Thanks again for your great post Pogi, I really appreciate it very much. :D

I want to thank you very much Nividium for "not" mentioning the fact that it was "I" that gave you the idea to create this badly needed forward trading station for miners...That it was "I" that sent you the X2 files created by McSpy as a reference for your work.

I also want to thank you for submitting your work in .pck file format and not xml...But foremost, I want to thank you for putting that great big Copyright on your .SPK

Lone Wolf in a Teamwork enviroment, does not work well in this forum in my opinion..But, what do I know..I'm just a simple map-maker and play-tester.

It puts a station in Paranid shipyards that has three products:

1. Ore
2. Silicon
3. Nividium

It has 3 "secondary resources".

1. Ore
2. Silicon
3. Nividium

What this allows you to do is to use mobile miners with their homebase set to this station to constantly supply the station with minerals...While other TS with this station as their homebase to sell those mined minerals throughout the universe. Very handy indeed for miners in the X3 community...Cheers

Yes, it's true Pogi, you did give me the idea to make this station. Infact, I made it just for. Then decided to release it so others could use it too. Would you like me to change the name of the package to "Pogi asked for a modification to my Warehouse script, so I made him this Mining Relay Station instead" ? Pogi, I don't make any money for making these scripts. I make them so people can have some fun. I also do not have or need to "steal" other peoples ideas or code. I am above that sort of nonsense.

The X2 files you refer to were browsed over, but there is nothing in them that I used. In fact that X2 SPP script you refer to, is just a simple Product and Resource assignment script. I and every other scripter already know how to do that from Elementary School. Despite your postulation that I used it as a bases or referrence for my work is not true.

Yes, I make all my script files as pck as the game engine gives pref over them to regular xml and they just get smaller due to the commpression. Why what are you inferring, that I use pck files in order to hide something. The "copyright" symbol used for ingame player log or emails are just ment as a joke. As far as I am concerned, you or anybody else can copy and do whatever you please with the scripts. I really don't care.

Your comment about "Lone Wolf in a Teamwork enviroment, does not work well in this forum in my opinion.." . Hey, I always work alone.

@Nividium....

No, I really have no desire to see my name attached to anything, that was really not the point that I was trying to make..I won't repeat my points as I think they are already clear enough. Thank you for your explanations though, your ideology is much clearer now.

User friendliness is the "main" issue with the use of pck. Many here like to tinker/learn xml scripting or edit these files for their "own" modified gameplay. Also, it makes it very difficult for German, Russian, Italian or other non English X3 players to enjoy these scripts when there is a 44 t file involved that they can not access to edit without tinkering with their file associations...Compression is not really an issue due to the small size of these files.
As far as I am concerned, you or anybody else can copy and do whatever you please with the scripts. I really don't care.
The use of pck along with Copyright has in the past only meant one thing in this communities eyes...Hands off...I'm glad you cleared that up..Thanks

Not all of us were blessed with the opportunity to learn xml scripting from our grade-school days, and are here to learn, contribute what we can to the game we love, make our own mod etc..There are many fine scripters here that understand this and take the time to assist those that need assistance. I for one have "never" wanted for a question unanswered.

On inferring:..I never infer..I am blunt...Please re-read my posts "without" that assumption. Some references were merely a history lesson Nividium..Nothing more.

Oh..btw..Welcome.... :) Cheers

Not sure about this script but my Trading Station Deluxe can do the exact same thing (distribute any number of different wares), can be set up in varying sizes, and can be tied together if you feel the need for an XXXXXXL super sized trading complex.
And Free traders shop there, too, if you prefer that.

All a matter of taste.
My complete script download page. . . . . . I AM THE LAW!
There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I'll give it a shot. Currently I have a bug ugly boxy TL from http://www.blackpanthergroup.de/x3/XSP-Schiffe/ , modded to have 500000 storage and a speed of 1. For sillyness, I towed it to it's destination. It's the homebase of a mining pack that are scrounging up a certain sector >.>
