Recovering lost scripts
I was testing/collecting some scripts/mods to customize my game and I've noticed that many of links are dead. Maybe it is possible to fix hosting or in any other way recover those scripts from being lost. What would you guys say about it? As I'm doing the research on scripts I could prepare list of broken links to be fixed.

READ and try again...
Xscripting.com is gone now, and X2Source has been taken offline until at least this October. And The Commander's Space Station is down now, too.
X2 fans are disappearing and X2 fansites are dropping like flies, so it's getting rather difficult to find working downloads for X2 scripts...
For these reasons, I've mirrored a couple of these scripts on a free file host.
Just the other day I mirrored this:
ASEWS - Adv Sat Early Warning System: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=60671
Download ASEWS.zip
(Thanks to Maverick01 for sharing this.
)
Much like yourself, I'd like to see these scripts preserved. IMO, X2 still has a great deal of play value and fun factor remaining, so it would be a shame to see all this work disappear. That said, X2Source should be back this October, and this should solve a lot of these problems. However, it's wise to have backup sources.
Race Wars Mod: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=74410
Download race.wars.v25.zip
I found no difficulty in downloading "Pirate Guild: Intelligent Pirate Behaviours" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=144557). I just clicked on the first link to the .rar archive:
http://anarkis.jexiste.fr/files/anarkis.pirate.rar
EDIT: Correction - that was for X3... But a link for the X2 version can be found near the end of the 10 page thread:
http://anarkis.jexiste.fr/files/X2.pirate.guild.120.rar
Worked like a charm. Perhaps the files server was temporarily offline due to some server maintenance or some such?
In a similar manner, the "Yaki Armada: Nomadic Pirate Tribe" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=128310) was obtainable from the download link to the .rar:
http://anarkis.jexiste.fr/files/yaki.armada.rar
EDIT: Again, that was for X3... I looked on his Anarkis Federation website, but apparently a version for X2 was never released.
Also, note that both the "Pirate Guild" and "Yaki Armada" plugins clearly state next to the download link:
Further, I was able to get "Burianek's 2ndry Production Lines" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=51501) from the download provided in the thread. In the first post he clearly states:
Also, "Attack enemies in radius" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=71993) is NOT a dead script. Stella provides a download link in the sig. This is not a direct link to the download as it takes you to the Matthew Farmery website. But by clicking on the X2 Scripts link you will find dozens of useful X2 scripts, including:
Stella's_Attack_enemies_in_range
Likewise, the "X2 Script Conflict Report program" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=80510) is obtainable through the same Matthew Farmery website. The forum thread states:
http://www.matthewfarmery.com/x2/X2Conf ... ort_12.ZIP
Similarly, the "Auto Dock Command" (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=74829) is technically not a dead script, either. True, if you try to download the Autodock_V1.2 file from the first link DeltaWolf provides (http://deltawolf.freefronthost.com/x2/), then you will be disappointed with the black & white "Not Found" error! However, reading further down, you will find this link:
http://www.freewebs.com/deltawolf/x2stuff.htm
There you will not only find Autodock_V1.1, but Bountyhunter v2 and other X2 files.
I'm thinking of contacting DeltaWolf and see if he can provide a copy of his missing Autodock_V1.2 version. (And perhaps mention that, while many players find this script invaluable, it's unfortunately that some have found it conflicts with other scripts, such as XaiCorps Jump Drive and Navigation Command software.) DeltaWolf may not frequent the Egosoft forums any more, but as both his avatar and sig declare, he is still an active member of the facts-games.net board.
See, sometimes all it takes is thorough reading, a little creative thinking, and some serious detective work. A good deal of patience helps, too.
Finally, it seems odd that the one script I could not obtain anywhere did not make this list:
"X2 sector take over script"
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=162071
However, I suspect blazer1121 will be back in a few weeks or so and rectify this. Right now he's probably "blowing heads off in bf2142". At least, that's what he said he's been doing in one of his last posts.

If you find his signature and click on the download here link you will be taken to his "Yahoo Briefcase". There are several folders here, but all you need is the "X2 The Threat" folder. Inside is the "X2SecProdBurv1.2" zip file (among a dozen or so useful files), just as he stated. I clicked and successfully downloaded. Providing a direct link to the file is impossible as Yahoo automatically changes the address on a regular basis (to prevent hotlinking).Get from the site in my signature.
Called X2SecProdBurv1.2.zip
right click and save as ...

X2 version of Serial Kicked's Pirate Guild script
UPDATE!: It seems that since I wrote this Serial Kicked's website has gone down...again. So, in the interest of posterity, I have uploaded the X2 version of his Pirate Guild script to my Host-A account:EDIT: Correction - that was for X3... But a link for the X2 version can be found near the end of the 10 page thread:
http://anarkis.jexiste.fr/files/X2.pirate.guild.120.rar
Worked like a charm. Perhaps the files server was temporarily offline due to some server maintenance or some such?
Download X2.pirate.guild.120.rar
BTW: One thing I despise about free file hosts is that the vast majority of them have a specified "inactivity period." That is, if your file(s) are not downloaded at least once every so many weeks or months, then they will likely become deleted - often without notice. I recommend always reading the 'Terms of Service.'
Here is one free file host that specifically mentions that your files "are kept until the user removes them":
