This small script will remove the need of crystals in a Solar Power Plant for a fee of 5,000,000 credits. This is the adaption of a script that was written first for X2. For the little story, the "crystal-less" technology was stolen to the Xenons in X2, and it's now widely available. After all, none of the AI Solar Power Plants need crystals. A new command will appear in your station's menu called "Install Crystal Free SPP Upgrade", use it in a Solar Power Plant to upgrade it.

(most of you will call this a blatant cheat, and i agree. It's just a script to make station building a bit more enjoyable for those who are more in the "combat" part of X3 than in the "trade" one)

I always like this type of script. E-Cells are the backbone of the economy, yet to really be able to supply them, you have to create your own entire economy from scratch, which makes little sense to me. This way, you can jumpstart your trade and empire without needing to rely on the races, and without having to put together a complex of 10 or so stations.

The 5M credit price tag makes it less of a "cheat" imo too.

I would feel guilty if I could buy L or XL crystal fabs, my darn mega hub is taken up with a silly number of M fabs and food for them. 3XL SPP need a LOT of support, in penence I will have to reconnect the WHOLE thing... Should be good for a hour or two.

Why feel guilty? They're available via Ashley's mod. They're not cheap either. 12M for an L, and 20 for an XL (off the top of my head).

There's no guilt involved at all imo.

@Zod : It's not a mod, it's a simple script. Install it with the XScript Installer and it'll work no matter what mod you're using.


@All : Err, yeah it's probably a cheat , and like i said i don't care. It's not a multiplayer game. If you want to use it, go on, and if you're not, don't moan.

Anyway, paying back the 5M credits will take you a few weeks. And notice that the IA is using the same "feature" as you. You know why ? Because without it, the economy would collapse. Don't believe me ? Change all the SPP secondary ressource to primary, and see what happens.
