Post Your X3 Reunion Benchmarks Here - The Rolling Demo
I want to setup two standard benchmarks at 1280 x 1024 because it seems like the defacto standard.
With AA on and AF on *and* AA off and AF off
Then people can add and change things around however they want.
You can find the rolling demo here on the Egosoft site:
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3/demos_en.php
Let's post some comparable results like this at 1280x1024 for driver reasons and to compare between ATI and different NVIDIA cards, etc..
Otherwise, live it up with posting benchmarks and post any observations you may find too with eax, glow, aqc, 16xAA 16xAF, the sweet spot for your rig.
System Specs:
XP SP2
Pentium 4 3.06 @ 3.2 GHz
1 GIG RAM
Driver set to "High Quality"
Vsynch = off
Glow = Enabled
AQC = Off
EAX = Off
AA off and AF off

Game version: 1.3.0.US
Graphic card name and driver used: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT Version [6.14.10.8198]
CPU name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz Family 7 Model 2
Video settings during benchmark:
Screen resolution: 1280 x 1024 * [32]
using shader profile: 3.0
Antialias Mode: NONE
Anisotropic Mode: NONE
Graphic & Shader settings
Texture quality: high
Shader quality: high
High quality bumpmaps: enabled
Environment map: enabled
Postprocessing: enabled
using 16bit vertex format: yes
Framerates
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 00 36.4 average fps 30.0 minimum fps 52.0 maximum fps
Scene 01 21.0 average fps 9.0 minimum fps 41.0 maximum fps
Scene 02 39.3 average fps 28.0 minimum fps 56.0 maximum fps
Scene 03 42.4 average fps 25.0 minimum fps 77.0 maximum fps
Overall average framerate: 34.8 fps
AA on and AF on
Same settings as above except 2xAA and 4xAF
Video settings during benchmark:
Screen resolution: 1280 x 1024 * [32]
using shader profile: 3.0
Antialias Mode: 2x
Anisotropic Mode: 4x
Graphic & Shader settings
Texture quality: high
Shader quality: high

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 00 29.3 average fps 22.0 minimum fps 42.0 maximum fps
Scene 01 19.0 average fps 8.0 minimum fps 39.0 maximum fps
Scene 02 31.2 average fps 25.0 minimum fps 49.0 maximum fps
Scene 03 36.7 average fps 17.0 minimum fps 76.0 maximum fps
Overall average framerate: 29.0 fps
Observations:
Not a big performance hit betweeon noAA,noAF and 2xAA, 4xAF on a 6800GT, only in scene 00 and 02 showing a measurable difference in avg and max fps. Overall 5 fps is worth it for the eyecandy tradeoff.

So we can now also observe their is a small difference in performance between the 7800GT and the FX 5600.
korrd - I have hard time believing those numbers
edit: I believe it, I just don't want to believe it's possible.
ScareCrow - Your CPU is obviously the bottleneck, score barely changes with higher res and 4x AF

The FX range is largely regarded as absolutly *crap*, there we go. The only half decent card is the FX 5950, and i still wouldnt buy one, even at todays prices. Anyone that knows a little about the gfx card market knows not to touch them with a bargepole.MadBoris wrote:So we can now also observe their is a small difference in performance between the 7800GT and the FX 5600.

Im not having a go at you. Buy a 6600GT, its cheap, by far the best fps for your money.generalkorrd wrote:Hey, gimme a break, I got the card in august of 03 when it was still a decent card, plus I was out of the pc loop for a while due to a war deployment, so I didnt have too much knowledge. I normally play at 1280x1024, Textures=High, Shaders=Low, 4xAA, 4xAniso. Switching EAX on or off, or turning Glow on or off doesn't make any significant difference (less than .5 FPS, all results were ~35FPS) with Shaders at Low.
However, if I turn Shaders to high, my average FPS drops to 29.1 with Glow on, or 31.3 with Glow off. My FPS drops too much to fight a big battle with Shaders High...
After sitting through the demo several times over to test this, I have to say that this game looks absolutely spectacular, BTW!

Slightly below what I normally play with:

Strange, EAX seems to help the frames by a few percent actually.

Thats what i like to see, some AA and Af results.
Thanks
I play at 1200x1024, AAx2, AFx2 and medium shaders my self and if theres an option to test those once ive downloaded the rolling demo, thats what my tests will be of. Not some cut back setting to give higher results.
Besides, im sick of seeing nvidia benchmarks that dont include such standard features as AA and AF these days. I buy graphics cards because they can handle AA and AF being turned on. So turning it off just says it cannot handle them to me so i avoid those cards.
If a card supports a feature, i say show us some test results using those features. Give is a idea of what that card can really do.
PS dont for get to name your graphics card, cpu and ram guys

Thanks
