Argon One in X2

Post by metricman »

I'm playing X2 and am curently facing a crisis. I have been playing for quite a while, and have built up a fair empire (12 bases, 15 novas, about 40 transporters, and 40mil cash). I decided it was time to start the missions, but I am now stuck on a mission where I must land on the Argon One to talk to Ban Danna. For some reason, the ship no longer exists! I have looked everywhere, including flying around the outer edge of Argon Prime and all systems two jumps away with a triplex scanner. I tried reloading the game, but again, it was to no avail. I even tried looking in the mission systems (Black Hole Sun, etc) and again, it wasn't there.

The only conclusion I can come to is that it was destroyed, but I can't find any way to continue the game unless I can somehow get it back. It would be really lame if I had to restart the game because of this, so if anyone has any ideas, I would be glad to hear them. Even something as drastic as rewritting the savegame with the Argon One in it would be alright with me, assuming anyone here knows how to do that. Thanks in advance.

As per last post Argon One and all plot related ships, Saya's and Bret's included, are indestructable; unlike ours. In my current game the Collosus in Ore Belt has no Hull and full Shields? It has been posted before that the full compliment of capitol defence ships has disappeared, but as said the plot ones can't be killed, so they'll show up sooner or later. If you've spare ships capable of mounting a Triplex scanner try sending them to the map edges and see if you get lucky sooner.

Luck.

Done,
can be downloaded here

http://files.filefront.com/aaamikeslfin ... einfo.html

1. unpack and copy the scripts to scripts directory

2. run from script editor in game "aaa.Mikesl.Find.Argon.One"

3. check your log book

:D :D :D :D

Thanks

I'll try that now, it should help alot. I tried going back to my last save, and ran the game at full SETA. I came back every ten minutes to check, and somehow between one set and the next it just disappeared! Thanks for the script, I was just about to give up and start all over again :(

EDIT: I ran it, and it tells me the Argon One is in Argon Prime. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me where in Argon Prime, which is the major problem (again, I have circled the sector with triplex scanners and found nothing :(. I have tried to mess around with the script, but I havn't tried the script editor before and cannot seem to get it to work. If you can get it to tell me the coordinates of the ship I would be much abliged. Thanks!

RE-EDIT: I figured out how to command the Argon One to Goto My ship, so hopefully that will work. I am running it now in SETA, will tell you if it comes closer. I could probly get this to find transports, and even get them to come to you (never tried the script editor, but it is simple so far) but I think I would need premission to use this wonderful script before doing it (it would be based entirely off of this one)

Mikesl, people have been compalining that they cannot find a TL to take stations for them.

Can this script you just did be adapted to find the nearest TL ?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You will never believe where the Argon One is! I figured out how to locate the coordinates (duh, the commands locate x, y and z axis). It is 2500KM X, 114KM Y and -1400KM Z, and yes, that is THOUSANDS of KM away. What was it trying to do, chase a Khaak ship by actually traveling the distances between systems without a gate?!?!

Pretty much, yes.

The Argon One, in X2, is programmed to chase down and kill enemies, and when it's not doing that, it just wanders around aimlessly.

Unfortunately, this means that it has a tendancy to wander off. It can quite easily end up *WAY* far away.

It'll never actually leave the sector, but X2's sectors are (for all practical purposes) "infinite in size". The Argon One wandering off into the interstellar void isn't unheard of. :)

I was just about to do it for you when you..... figure the coordinates out yourself, quite a sense of accomplishment isn't it? Good for you pal.

As for getting near the Argon one, that's easy.

Look for Nav Software ST 1 in the sticky unsigned script list,

It will perform in sector jump in x2

Actually, flying long enough will cause integer overflow and invert the sign of the coordinate. For example, go west young man, and you shall eventually get around and approach from east. Same thing in X3.

Now, the question is, whether there is still a red spot that One is after, but cannot catch. And how to get it back.

Without scripts, one could take a jumpdrive in fastest ship carrying one and boldly go after the One to help chase to villain (if there is one). Another good part is that Khaak tend to spawn in the sector, where player stays for long. With all the bad guys in the core of the sector, the One may eventually head for home.

With scripts, one can probably just change the coordinates of the One. Preferably OOS.

I'm sure it could, but the script is for X2, I don't have X3 at hand so....

Fixed it

Ya, I figured out how to get the argon one to the center of the map. The one thing I hate is that that is all the modding I have done, and I still get that stupid Modded thing in the top corner. I mean, on the site they explain it as pride in not changing anything, but in reality, I just changed it because they made a stupid mistake. I wish I could get rid of it, mais c'est la vie :(
