I don't think they are aware we are some thousands waiting for it ;)

Saying that, I'm glad you asked first! ;)

I guess they are working hard on it, lower the Kalashnikov patch release rate to be able to fix more stuffs, and to tests fixes, and this is not something bad IMHO, even if I can't wait too!!!!! ;)

An update of the status would be nice. Is it 25% done or 90%?

Having problems with trading not working? or mining?

go, have a look in the modding/scripting part of the forum, they have a lot of stuff fixed already or did great workarounds

try http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=355127
for working trade stuff,

try http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=350673
for better AI in Combat and more "realistic" space flight behavior (Battlestar Galactica style)

i dont want to have to MOD my game to play it. From my exp MODS can actually add to the problem and cause more problems each time they patch it. Same as having to edit save files all the time.

workaround = cheating, exploits, moding. changing how the game works i want the original game to work how it should.

Agree. While mods are great, in the mods folder, I'm not replacing asset files etc.

Mods can be really cool, thanks to point us on this!

Anyway, like other ones, I would like to get all this from Vanilla for now, and will think adding mods when we will have a fully fonctionnal and stabilized version of the game. I did it sucessfully for X3 AP and will do probably in some months for X Rebirth. We have some spectacular skilled guys in the Mods sub-forum for sure! :)

Anyway, thanks! :)

yeah, i noticed alot of people try to mod the game so people can actually get on with it... but i really rather just wait for the game to get completed first...

i mean the game isnt a finished product.. egosoft knows it but they cant legally say it else Deep silver will get them into serious trouble.

how is modding going to do the game any good?

i'll just wait it out till egosoft can actually finish the game fully... give them a few months i'd say. it'll be painfull, but i waited over 2 years. a few more months wont hurt.

Some unofficial mod fixes for bugs become (or lead to) official fixes and get released as part of vanilla.

Have you ever gone to make a coffee and stared at the kettle until it boils? It feels like it takes ages, doesn't it?

...

I wouldn't be surprised if you have some other games you can go and play, then come back to this one when the patch is out. Having every other thread on this forum asking "is it out yet?" like some spoiled brat of a kid sitting in the back seat of a car getting fed up with the journey isn't going to make it come along any faster :P

Right now, modders are providing tools and fixes to make the game usable in it's current state. Modding is not cheating - it's modifying the game for a specific goal. The previous bonus packs are effectively (digitally signed) mods - nothing more.

Can a mod be a cheat? Yes. Is a mod, by definition, a cheat script? No. It simply changes the way things work to make it easier, more effective, better or just more fun. It opens the world and adds functions that aren't present. It gives other people a chance to add to the game in a way that benefits anyone who CHOOSES to use it.

Further more, modding communities keep games alive by keeping them fresh and fun. Look at Taleworlds Mount and Blade, Garry's Mod, X2, 3, TC and AP and the list goes on.. What does modding do? It makes your financial investment worthwhile..

Kinda hoping we'd get atleast an ETA when the new patch will hit and small list of whats in it.

To give that "there is hope" -feeling.

The fact i have other games to play doesnt make the slightest difference, they have taken my money and i expect something for it.

As for MODS, ive no issues with having MODS on a finished product but adding MODS or changing game files on a broken product in the long run is only going to complicate issues, what happens if i change game files then the game gets patched but because ive changed files and added stuff that shouldnt be there the game becomes even more broken then it already is. Thats counter productive in my eyes.

I didnt make this thread for fanboys to come and say be patient i made it because i want an answer from Egosoft.

Yes you are absolutely right. You should not have to rely on mods to fix the game. But until the game is fixed...

well my point being, the Game is not finished....

theres a diffrence between a Buggy game and a Unfinished one...

X rebirth is not finished... i wont mod a incomplete game. i'll wait till the base of the game is 100% and then mod it if i feel it needs to be.

We have to strike a balance between getting a patch out as soon as we can, and making sure that enough of the most important fixes get in there to make it worth releasing. As such I can't give you an exact ETA or a precise list of what will be in it just yet, though we're getting pretty close to being able to do so. When the information is ready we'll put it up in the sticky threads for all to see.

For now, what I can say is that the primary focus has been on solving the most pressing trade problems and sorting out some of the remaining crashes. We have also started the process of improving performance for those who are having problems with that, but I should make it clear that the changes in this particular patch are just the first step on that road.

Thanks chap
My favourite memory of the X series was babysitting that TL across half the universe in XTension and finally arriving in Getsu Fune to be gifted the TL! I called her Big Bad Orca...

And that is precisely the sort of update post you should be filling us in with on one of the existing stickies about patches/features being worked on! Please don't leave us all in the dark while you beaver away working on stuff, it leads to so much pointless speculation and pessimism on the boards here it's depressing lol. Even if it's just a brief update with nothing specific!

p.s. thanks for the update even if it is hidden down inside a thread here. Thankfully I'm not as impatient as some people seem to be, otherwise I might have exploded by now! haha :)
