shame - she was always excellent - from the 50's onward, she has delighted us with her brilliant comedy acting..
I've recently been listening to her portrayal of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, on BBC Radio4 Extra - most excellent..
- she never fails to deliver, whatever part she plays..

- she will be missed by all.. :( :(

Something I never knew--she was already in her 50s when she appeared in Terry and June, the first time I recall seeing her. Amazing woman, RIP.

Not sure how many on here would admit to being or have been fans of WWE (formerly WWF) ... but "Mean" Gene Okerlund has passed away aged 76.

As a kid, a long time ago, I was a big fan. I'm not one today, but did go through a short revisit of being a fan in the early 2000s or so. I remember him - He was an icon! He did a great job in a crazy environment and was really able to "think on his feet" and pick up on the cues the wrestlers would give. I used to love his deadpan responses to the craziest stuff some of the "wrestlers" would come up with. :)

Rest in Peace Mean Gene. I remember him well. And I think he was also a character on Celebrity Death Match.

Bob Einstein has passed. Most might know him from the characters he played on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" or "Arrested Development." I know him more fondly from his "Super Dave" show.

RIP, "Super Dave." Thanks for all the laughs!

Every year just after Christmas/New Year there's a spate of deaths. Personally I'm convinced that people are holding on for a few extra days out of pure stubbornness and a refusal to go.

IIRC, you are correct. At least from the last pop-culture article I remembered reading. Is it true? I dunno...

But, my mother died a day after the anniversary of my father's death. My aunt died a couple of days after her 97'th (?) birthday, which was a month after my uncle's death, almost to the day. My father died on December 7'th, the anniversary of "Pearl Harbor" and the day the US entered WWII, in which he participated in as a Naval officer.

Or, perhaps, we tend to have a lot of special dates we remember and Christmas is one of them?

W Morgan Sheppard, who played roles in all sorts of SF--he was the Soul Hunter in B5, and played his real-life son's older self in the Doctor Who episode "The Impossible Astronaut"--has passed:

He also played one of the nasty guys in Zork: Nemesis back in 1996. RIP, Mr. Sheppard.

Sad. :( I loved the concept and his execution of the "Soul Hunter" character on Bab5!

May his soul freely find its way home.

Windsor Davies, known well to British audiences from "It Ain't 'Alf Hot Mum" in the 70s, and maybe to international audiences as Sergeant Major Zero in "Terrahawks", has died:

Probably more for the Brits, the comedian Jeremy Hardy has died:

Always liked his dry humour, will miss that.

Sad news indeed, didn't agree with his politics (most of the time), but he was very funny.

Must listen to " A Brief History of Time wasting" on the way home tonight.
