I've played the campaign at least 20+ times throughout this last year or so, always starting up a new game on releases of revisions and then some.
So now. What I do to keep entertained is roleplay the campaign a bit more. At the point where Plutarch are now enemies i've taken it up a notch. Doing some savefile editing to make this happen.
I start with the far out sector and set the zones ownership to heartofalbion.
I then go through each system (that are not part of campaign) and systemmatically destroy plutarch stations... since they can *never* be destroyed completely I set them to state="wreck" when they appear to be completely wrecked.
If they are stations that are like-types of other corporations I set those other corps to owning it after it's destroyed. Albion energy owning recharge stations, ledda to owning tech stations.. and myself to owning mining station - to which I then setup a CV to attach to it to repair them
When I take over a zone, I set the zone from plutarch to heartofalbion.
Once in awhile though if I am feeling plutarch needs to strike back I reverse it and set those zones/stations back to plutarch; as if they invaded.
One station I didn't want to destroy first I further roleplayed it and landed on each of it's docking points pretending to unload marines, and took it over that way.
Had to edit the savegame of course, ... it's actually a lot of fun this way.. looking at the maps figure out what/where to strike next and what plutarch is going to retake or take over next.
In order to keep up the plutarch/HOA fight through I eventually had to set their factions against each other at -0.32 in order them to actually fire on each other.
but yeah..
It's quite fun; worth it.

Fly to the zone you want to change.
edit the savefile, the .xml file, search for "betty", it'll come up real quick
then search "previous" (above where you are) for class="zone" and that's the current zone you're in. In that line should be owner="plutarch" or whatever, just change the to owner="heartofalbion" or remove it to be ownerless
search for betty again, and do a search for class="station" and the next couple of stations that come up (if they're in the zone) will be the ones that are in that zone - same thing - owner="player" for player; then you search for class="npc" directly after that and the npc's that show up before another class="" appears are on that station, make sure you get the manager, engineer and defense officer set to player as well. Then, when you play the game - put new manager and defense officers on there of your own - If you're setting it for another faction put their faction in there instead

no .. the factional ships are done by scripts of who the owners are of those particular ships at the time of their spawning specifically .. then they are checked to respawn on their death to the faction they currently are so, if you want the factional ships as your own you have to owner="player" them in the savefile
