Stuck on Deliver 300 food rations (already bought them)

Post by Travor »

I've managed to get all my ships to DeVries sector, and now the game wants me to deliver 300 food rations to the Solar Energetics station in Fervid Corona.

My Rahanas (the one that I always had from the beginning of the game) has bought 300 food rations from Gushing Spring and was then ordered to sell them to Fervid Corona. This was all done in the [Enter] -> Trading menu.

Except that it:
1. reached the destination station
2. told me it was going to offload the stuff
3. attempted to dock or use cargo drones or something...
4. undocked and flew away WITHOUT actually deliverying anything

The food rations are still in the cargo. The planned trips count did not decrease.

And I am stuck.

I have tried buying another Rahanas in Darned Hot Air or use the constructor to buy and sell. I have also tried to wait it out in Albion system or staying in zone. The buying always succeeds, the selling to Solar Energetics always fails.

I just want to move past this mission using any way possible.

Lucky that you still have your Rahanas; mine never got returned after I went to DeVries. I'm trying to use the Construction ROV but it seems to have gotten stuck in some unknown sector somewhere. VERY ANNOYING!

Yeah, I'm stuck at that part too although my problems are little different.

Never got my Rahanas back. I tried to buy the food rations from Gushing Spring with my Construction ship but that didn't work. It accepts the trade and I lose the money but when the ship arrives to pick up the goods it just stands there doing nothing...

I then tried to buy some cargolift drones from nearby shipyard as I thought maybe that is the problem but that too seems to be heavily bugged. When I try to buy the drones my ship docks but then nothing happens. Spent hours trying to get this work but no success.

well i managed to buy cargolifters but it only worked if my constr ship was already in the same zone....

well i bought some more food rations just to be sure

but if i try to drop them off the ship goes close and nothing happens
(kind of ) the cargo of the ship is removed no drones exit and the mission is not ompleted

I had the same issue. You need to open up the Food Rations list and sellect the right station/location. It's not the first one listed, I was telling the ship to deliver to the wrong place.

I ordered it to the correct port of the correct station. I watched the ship pretending to dock, but it did not actually send any cargo drones or deliver anything.

Unfortunately, I'm having the same issues. After struggling to get the Cargo Lifter drones bought. I then flew the Gushing Sprint, used the Buy point to purchase about 2,500 units (I know only 300 were required). The Constructor docks and nothing happens. Ok, so I reload the save, leave the system. This time the Constructor docks (as per statements by the Captain) and supposedly finishes the buying process. I then make my way to Fervid Corona, set the sell order at from the appropriate buy location. And nothing...

It seems my Constructor never actually bought the Food Rations. I'm at a loss. I've been stuck trying to get past this for a day and a half.

I'm stuck on this part, too. My problem seems to be a little different, though.

I can only use my construction ship as a transport. The game gave me a nifty captured ship, but it refuses to budge since I had to destroy its engines and jump drive to capture it. At least when I transferred an engineer on board, they put out the fires. As for my energy transport, it vanished without a trace... I'm guessing Plutarch killed it and Betty didn't bother to tell me it needed defending. It's just as well, as far as I can tell this Construction Ship is the only ship the campaign gave me that is capable of moving food rations anyway.

Alright, so I'll tried to do this leg of the quest using the Construction ship as a transport. Well, the construction ship claimed to buy the food, but then the captain complained about having insufficient jump fuel, and now the ship won''t budge. Sure enough, checking its info, it seems to have no jump fuel at all.

Alright, maybe I can get some jump fuel? Well, I have no idea where to go for that: I can't find any jump drive fuel anywhere in the sector. I miss the X Encyclopedia that would tell me where something is sold. (I also miss there being only one kind of energy cell to worry about.) Oh, except because I've already ordered my construction ship to try to come to DeVares and unload these food rations, I guess there's no way to tell it to buy jump fuel now anyway.

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem,

I did get my Rahana's luckily but when ever I added it to my group the captain would report they didn't have enough just fuel. I have no idea how to get any, nor did I know where it was anyway. But it doesn't matter anymore because after 20-30 minutes fiddling around with my construction ship to get it to complete the trade the Rahana's just dissipated and was no longer in my ships list. I get it was destroyed somewhere or simple just vanished?

So I started trying to use my construction ship, it came and I brought the Food rations. I tried to get the food rations but because it did not have any cargolifters so it couldn't even pick the goods up. yet its the only ship I have that can actually carry the stuff.

So I tried to go around to drone deals to buy cargolifters, but no drone deals even sell these. Either 50% of the drone dealers wont talk to me, or the rest do not have the lifters I need. I have talked to at least 17 or so without luck, am I just looking in the wrong places? Is it even possible to complete this with the construction ship?

The food rations are still in the cargo. The planned trips count did not decrease.

And I am stuck.
I'm in the same position, on v1.14 and going insane now. It all started going wrong after the boarding mission. This is my 2nd playthrough to this position since the first time the Taranis ended on 8% hull and wouldn't move, and I didn't get my Rahanas back. I tried to plug on, and eventually the Taranis started moving straight to the nearest PMC station (still at 8%) and suicided against the station's guns. I decided to restart the campaign before later reading advice to just sell the damn thing straight away.

So playthrough 2. Energy trade went fine this time but I carefully escorted the Rahanas and didn't do a mission in between. All fine until after boarding. Flew to the jump point, original Rahanas not returned. Reloaded from save point after boarding, flew back to jump point. Rahanas not returned, but what do you know, there's my Rahanas at the jump point - flagged neutral.

Meanwhile, on my initial return from Devries, I'd sent the little trader to pickup wheat from Argon (mistakenly thinking that was the food I needed at the time). I realised my mistake and added a 2nd trade for him to sell it back in Devries anyway. Bit o extra cash. However that trader is still stuck in Watergate not moving. Never mind, I thought, lets move on.

Went to Devries, sold the Taranis, upgraded the Skunk. Placed the order at shipyard to add some cargo drones to the construction ship. That ship flies into the shipyard docking ring, promptly flies out again without any new drones. Construction ship still has one order listed so I assume that's it, but its just sitting there. I return to the same ship dealer, and now there's no option for anything except to buy a new ship, of which four are listed, with the build buttons greyed out on all of them despite me still having the cash for all (still about 17mill after upgrading the skunk).

So then I read more advice that I should have dropped the construction ship from squad and had it in zone before placing the drone order. Oops now why didn't I think of that, damn obvious really ("Not" (to quote the friendly station crew)). Ok so construction ship is parked up, little original devries trader parked up, lets not give up yet.

Same shipyard, different dock point I find another Ship dealer, this time who has a larger list of ships (and the option to upgrade, though when I selected that I apparently have no ship to upgrade despite the construction ship now out of squad and parked in zone).

So (I thought) lets make this easy and build a new Container Rahanis. Take max weapon options, add 30 cargo drones, 5 construction drones. Ship built. Now I'm getting somewhere. Add new captain (though the new captain replaces one that seems to come with the ship I want one that lounges around the dock area), add engineer and defense bloke. Save Game.

Rahanas in squad, new shiny trading software shows food to be bought down the alley at Crystal something. Set buy trade for 300 rations. Taking it exactly as per instructions to try to avoid the silly captain heading off to do their own thing or lounge around a zone somewhere in envy of my other two ships. Off she goes and buys them. Great so far.

Fly to Quest dropoff location, use trade menu and set sell order for the 300 rations. 300 rations soon sold, no quest update. Oops, Numbnutt (being me) set the wrong sell station. But hey everything worked so now I'm confident.

So this time I sent the Rahanas to buiy a full load of Food since its cheap and after quest update I can sell off the remainder. Purchase is fine, the she flies to sell point, approaches the dock, tells me she's initiating trading, and immediately then flies off to take snapshots of the sun and sceneray in the zone before actually unloading. Reload.

Try again but again escort the ship every step of the way, buying exactly the 300 required. On sell, same thing, initiate trading, flies off and parks in a nice pleasant position.

Then I read one bit of advice to dock on the trader and set the trade while in the sell zone, docked, and watch it all happen while lounging on the trader's crew deck. Tried this, and got a different perspective of pulling into dock, announcing trade initiation and flying off...

Those who got through it, how? Any further suggestions?

I can't think of anything else. A pity really cause I am actually enjoying the game when its working, ignoring the silly things like the inside of stations, voice "acting" repetitive statements, etc. There is a very deep game economy in there somewhere, of which I am seeing glimpses. I just can't get past the damn UI, unintuitive requirements to make things happen and blatant bugs. Here's hoping the trading gets fixed real soon. I'm stuck, just a tad frustrated after many hours trying to figure this out, and really don't want to load someone else's savegame (though there's probably no reason why I shouldn't with 2 ships stuck and one boycotting the station the quest tells us to trade at).

I just found this post by Morgan K in another thread about this problem:

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... c&start=30

Morgan is now upgraded to Legend status in my eyes as I found the section in the savegame file he mentions and it worked straight up.
I think I found the problem here.
After trying to sell the rations countless times, and always ending up with freighters pretending to unload their cargo while they actually did nothing, I noticed the station was completely stocked.

So I tried some savegame editing:

The station is called "struct_econ_unique_ar_spp_xl_macro" and some 10 to 20k lines below you'll find something like this:

<connection connection="connectionfor_struct_econ_stor_energy_x4_fs_macro" macro="connectionfor_struct_econ_stor_energy_x4_fs_macro">
<component class="storage" macro="struct_econ_stor_energy_x4_fs_macro" connection="space" attackmethod="hitbybullet" attacktime="41024.2" id="[0x407d89]">
<offset>
<position y="1158.41" z="4030.83"/>
</offset>
<hull value="4.798e+006" time="41024.7"/>
<cargo>
<summary connection="connection_cargobay01">
<ware ware="energycells" amount="142180"/>
<ware ware="fuelcells" amount="48910"/>
</summary>
</cargo>
<connections>

All you have to do is reduce the number of wares.
The maximum cargo space seems to be around 190000 and it's producing fast, so don't be too cautious here. I removed around 100k energy cells.
After that it worked first try. Well, second if I'm honest, but that was only because the freighter was buggy and didn't dock at all on the first one.

From my experience, the AI trading works way better if I don't hang around the station watching and praying...contrary to some other posts.
