I'm not able to look at it till tomorrow. Its a tiny update though, with nothing that would conflict, and I can't believe they would have added a cat/dat...can anyone confirm?

Edit - someone has said in the update thread that this release just updates the 03 cat/dat, so it shouldn't have overwritten the xrm. The only thing that may have happened is Steam putting back the vanilla 00044 file in the mov folder, so you may need to delete it again, also you may need to reinstall part 3. None of these things would have broken a save though... anyone else having problems?

Ok thanks, ill try replacing that.

Update,

Didn't work, maybe something else although I've not played with anything so I assumed it would be that.

Looking at the patch documentation thread, I see nothing in 2.5.3 that would cause any problems. It should be safe to update.

I suggest you reinstall the xrm cat/dats and scripts. Maybe Steam did something weird.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the help, have re-installed everything to no avail.

Must be something else I have done, will play around with a new install and see if I can sort it.

Just installed mod. Steam version is borked. It ran till it got to the menu screen just fine as vanilla. I started it once in case it creates folders and stuff.

I installed the mod. When I open the game it shows the first explody splash screen. Then it shows the egosoft logo video. Then it shows the quote. Then it goes to another explody loading screen, sits there for two seconds, then crashes with the popup window saying the program has stopped working.

That is usually caused by installing the XRM to the base TC folder rather than the AP (addon) folder and then trying to run AP.

Please re-read the installation instructions, ensuring you are following the instructions for Albion Prelude.

If playing TC and this is happening, then please check that you copied all scripts from the scripts_tc folder into the scripts folder in your TC installation. Again, this is all in the installation instructions.

Just to confirm - I have just updated AP to 2.5.3 and there are no issues with the XRM at all. So you are all free to allow Steam to upgrade.

Did full reinstall of game and reinstall of mod being super careful to follow instructions exactly. Everything went into the addon folder except the soundtrack files and the loadscr files. I got past the loading screen it usually crashes on and got to the main menu. I see X3 Rebalance Mod under all the menu buttons. Started a new game, terren commander. Gets through the opening cinima then crashes with program has stopped working as soon as it tries to load the game.

Tried to load up the argon military one and it crashed with program has stopped working before the cinema started.

Tried suicidal squid. Got past opening cinema then crashed when trying to load the game.

In the XRM1.28_PART_2 folder there are XRM1.28_PART_2.cat and XRM1.28_PART_2.dat . instructions didn't talk about any of the loose files in the XRM1.28_PART_2 folder. Didn't say to do anything with those or where to put them so I left them alone.

Of course it is in the instructions:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 15#3636815
- Extract the dat/cat files and look at the other dat/cat files you have in the main AP installation folder (in your Terran Conflict\Addon directory). Rename the XRM files to a bigger number than the last ones, i.e. if the last ones are 03.dat and 03.cat rename the XRM files to 04.dat/04.cat and 05.dat/05.cat.
04.cat/dat - Files extracted from PART 1
05.cat/dat - Files extracted from PART 2

I went into the backup copy I made that is untouched and pure vanilla. I get to the menu just fine. Then when I start a new game it gives me the message that XRB is installed. I don't know how the hell that happened. I never touched this folder. Even going in and inspecting it, none of the mod files are in it. XRB commands are in the autopilot menu. XRB is displayed under the main menu buttons.

I was able to get in and fly around a bit but now the game is crashing again when it's about to put me in my ship.

It clearly states in the installation instructions to copy all the scripts from either the "scripts_tc" or "scripts_ap" folder in part 2 into the "scripts" folder in your x3 installation.

I believe this is what is causing your crashes.

They will be under the interface tab. If they are not their, then the xrm scripts are not installed correctly (you'll need to restart your game if that is the case).

When I installed the mod there wasnt a scripts_AP folder so I created it and copied the scripts from the mod, maybe it has something to do with that?

Yes.
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 15#3636815
- Copy the contents of the "scripts_AP" folder to the "scripts" folder in your main AP (addon) directory. If a scripts folder does not exist then create one. Overwrite any existing files.
Really, you should read carefully the installation instructions.

Got a question for you all... is it possible to use the Bonus Pack with XRM (In TC)? Or, more specifically, the CLS and CAG scripts? If so, how should I go about installing them so I avoid conflicts?

The bonus pack (or the individual scripts inside it) are compatible with XRM and won't cause any problems.
Just install them like normal.
1940s - Various "computers" are "programmed" using direct wiring and switches. Engineers do this in order to avoid the tabs vs spaces debate.

I highly recommend not installing the bonus pack - its extremely out of date.

Its better to install the separate versions of each script available on this forum, which are maintained and kept up-to-date. They are all compatible with the XRM.

errr..., what happens if you already had the pack installed, ( like a dummy, ) before installing the XRM. Can I update the individual scripts, or is it going to be more trouble than its worth? I was intending to do so when I start a new XRM game. :)
