Albion Prelude on DVD

Post by Sirus5 »

Hi,

Been here long time but been away a bit recently due to personal issues

Seen Albion Prelude is on steam -

My PC which I use only for X3 and would like to use for AP will not ever be connected to internet as I don't want Antivirus and other rubbish on it slowing it down, therefore, it is pristine and only has X3 and nothing else.

I therefore wondered if I will be able to run AP when it comes on DVD, and also Rebirth or will I sadly now be excluded now.

Thanks

The DVD release of X3AP will be using Steamworks, so you will need to be connected during the installation and activation process. After that, though, you should be able to work in offline mode. There's more information in our new Steam FAQ section.

you dont have to have an Anti virus on your computer for the interenet, just try not to go on any porn.

my computer never gets slowed down by anything ;) so dunno why you worried a anti virus would slow yours down, maybe you not got a good computer?

Hi Sirus5

To cut a long story short - No internet No AP.

If you ignore all the techno babble that the devs use to state this simple fact you won't get your hopes up unnecessarily.

You don't know what he's using the computer for so you can't know if AV software will get in the way.

And keep the adult references off the forum please.

And let the moderators do the moderating, please.

As for the word 'porn', it's not in the swear censor list, so it's acceptable to use, in this context. We also discuss drugs (spaceweed), alcohol (spacefuel), slavery and even killing in the context of the game, so I'm not sure what you mean by 'adult references'. :P

But let's keep this thread on the topic of Albion Prelude, shall we? If it morphs into another thread on Steam, it will get locked. Steam debates are to be confined to the Steam thread in the Rebirth forum only.

Fair warning.

OK, I'm out of here, then

Not getting Steam and if I need to get a crack to use it without begging permission, I'll not bother buying.

Thanks for the games.

How do I remove my account from here, BTW?

PPS: "since anyone using them will not receive automatic updates and hence will be unsupported"

I don't need to receive automatic updates, my life has been replete without them for many years. And given the number of people having problems with their game after a Steam automatic update has stuffed up their config, requiring a reinstall (and hence reactivation), I fail to see why this means unsupported.

Wrong Nick.

There are plenty of drive-by assaults for Windows.

Different ones on Win 7, but still extant.
