Speech problems with AP

Same issue here, played the game yesterday for a good 3 hours with no issues. Started the game today and all the voices are missing including betty's.

Tried updating every device driver for everything I have on my machine to no avail. Seems to me like there has to be some problem with the game itself since I have had this same recurring problem with every single X3 game, can someone make a fix so this never happens again??

Strangely enough one time when I reloaded my save the game turned on subtitles for some reason, almost as if it recognized that there was no sound coming out and tried to resolve the matter by turning them on.

I did this and speech is restored in new games but not my current save. Very weird.

Well...this is getting to be worse and worse news. X-series save files are notorious for saving too much information...anybody who tinkers with x3universe.xml knows this pain.

I messed around with the security settings to get the files to copy, like above I was able to get voice in new game but not from current save. I then jump and docked with auto save, quit and exit, restart AP, load the last autosave, and voice came back.

Hey, that worked. Jump, dock, quit, exit, restart, load the autosave. For some reason, regular saves weren't doing it.

It's almost as if you'd read the thread!

Steam deleted the files containing the voiceovers and their time references. We don't get them back until Steam fixes it or you manually restore the deleted files with an undeleter or, if you have Windows 7, the Previous Versions tab of the addon/mov folder's Properties dialogue.

How large is the that file? Is it illegal for some kind and benevolent user to put it up on some free server and supply a download link?

That would greatly help people like me who cant wait to start playing (without subtitles)...
