I think, imo, that red should always denote an enemy.

It's not in CB's release version just mine at the moment. I would normally agree however the entire theme for the UI has been altered to red which flies against most normal things. Yellow is also a reactionary warning colour and after playing with it for about 5 mins I got used to seeing the yellow as an enemy. It actually shows up better than the red did with the original UI. Also the base red is not bright (triggers warning signals if it is) whereas the yellow is bright. Changing friendlies to grey worked well though and you only notice them when you need to so they don't intrude upon your vision.

Hopefully I found the highlights for the menu's too so just testing them now before heading to bed. Will probably up an altered version of CB's if he doesn't mind so peeps can test.

Ironically I prefer blue/indigo colours to red so it's a bit weird doing it this way :D

Making a few new crosshairs at the moment. I think the ones I first did are a bit to obstructive to the players view. These ones should be a little easier and less obstructive (why oh why are the crosshairs linked into the entire image GUI!!!).

6 new crosshairs completed :)

[ external image ]

The Red colour and White background are only to show the shapes properly. With Alpha the dark surrounds are translucent to aid seeing the target.

Working on a special one at the moment. Will see how it turns out :)

Well haven't heard from CB in a few days so going to post up my edit of his Black and Red UI. Also altered the main Intro to being red instead of blue (though savegame names are still blue).

Main colours are Red, Yellow and Grey taking over from Blue, Red and Green respectively. Yellow's are bright, Red's are darker as they aren't meant to signify danger and Grey is used for friendlies and civ's.

Installation:
Unzip all files to the Install Directory. Currently not in SPK or Fake Patch format, will make those later :)
This is only in testing at the moment so little things will get fixed. If there is anything you notice particularly please mention it!

TrixX's Red HUD 0.3
TrixX's Red StartUI 0.2

Known bugs:
  • Text colour is controlled somewhere I haven't found so is still normal.
Gravidar has slight clipping at northern and southern extremities with contacts, will be fixed in the next version.
Quest target offscreen arrows are the same colour as current enemy target offscreen arrows which can cause confusion at times.

Here are some upgraded weapon FX too. Keeps the original colours for the most part but makes them as the should have been instead of the washed out dds that is currently in use.

No probs about updating I just would like to get some feedback from everyone to see if the Red/Yellow/Grey theme works. I do stress its still in testing :)

Which one? Mine or CB's?

it seems those from the first post have it, no? I saw screenshots only, never tried the mod due to the fact that I have my own version of the hud. The only annoying thing is bluish text that is nowhere to edit.

I'm just really busy atm. What "main font" do you mean? Didn't change the font (you cant change it easily, its defined by the HUD body file :/ ).

Sweet. Will try it out because Military Hud comes with brackets which I hate.

the text for the menu bar and messages for example. You say it cannot be changed? A pity then.

I'm still looking for a way to change the fonts. If I can find the right file I'll give it a go. It's the last piece of the puzzle for my HUD, though I am probably going to redesign the whole thing again once I have found it. Want to create a blue/indigo/violet one with highlights from other colours depending on what suits. Also not much of a fan of the pearl interface, prefer the one from X3:R
