x3 terran conflict scanners

Post by morphias44a »

when youve got both duplex and triplex scanners installed dont mean mean ya have the range of both put together right? The triplex is the active one correct? Is there still yet one more powerfull than the triplex?

You're right - the triplex is effectively the active one. The only advantage of having both on the same ship is if one gets destroyed.

And no - in vanilla there's nothing more powerful than the triplex. Not sure if there's any script or mod out for X3TC (but it's an easy mod...).

Advanced satellites have a longer range than a Triplex, iirc. Of course, they're not quite as portable...

Oh I don't know about that. I always keep some in my trusty Boa. It's handy in the larger sectors to have a few that you can stick down as you explore. Mind you I do tend to leave them in place once I deploy them.

You're right - not sure what the actual figures mean, but it's:

Standard (a station or ship with no scanner upgrade) 5M
Duplex Scanner 10M
Triplex 15M
Nav Sat 11M
Adv Sat 17.5M

The figures are in millions, but million whats?

I understand a suggestion was made in the L3 forums for a "Terran Sat" which had an increased range to match the massive sectors. Would be nice.

Spatial units, obviously! :P

The engine calculates positions to 2mm, iirc - so divide by 500 000 to get kilometres.

You could tractor beam one behind you for that long tactical view.

Standard: 10km radius
Duplex: 20km radius
Triplex: 30km radius
Satellite: 22km radius
Adv. Sat.: 35km radius

There, translated. :D
