There is a response from EGOSOFT on the dev boards which says They are aware of the issue with CTD's and cockpits, however it has not been fixed in this next patch. Patch 2.0 has alot of content.... I dont even think they addressed the AI issues.
I also would also be very hapy if the talented modders where able to get the cockpits to work and I am very grateful to Arkblade for the original cockpit mod which really added a lot to the game for me, and of course to all the other talented people that have made other superb mods and scripts for the X series of games.
And thank you egosoft for the x series of games themselves that have kept me immersed for countless hours of enjoyment.

Finally.. a statement by Ego. Now that's at least something. I hope they will fix it in one of the next patches.
Not speaking for anyone else, but i for one would be willing to pay £10/£15 to egosoft for either a downloadable cockpit patch for TC or to buy a dvd version in my local games shop.
I'm absolutely against downloadable contents of any kind..... I'm however willing to make an exception for downloadable cockpits

Xenon_Slayer replied in this very thread (on page 4) a couple of weeks ago (although without revealing much ).
I'm new to the X-Universe. I just purchased X3: TC this weekend.
Right from the get-go I've felt that the camera view is very AWKWARD. It's not just about it being unrealistic... it just feels awkward having no cockpit.
I've never played one of the old games with a cockpit, so I don't know how much resources or screen space it would take up, but I'd definitely like to try playing with it.

Too bad the hydraulics to move the monitor around you to match this movement are still a bit bulky.
Unless of course, you fasten the monitor to your head.
Good for your neck muscles.
My complete script download page. . . . . . I AM THE LAW!
There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
I use Track IR for other games, including ARMA and Falcon. It is a phenomenal device, and it really adds a totally new element to some of these games. Not sure how hard it would be to implement it in X3. Their website is www.naturalpoint.com
I'm waiting for the cockpits long time, this is main reason I prefer older space-sims, even very old Privateer, there was damage model in the cockpits, very immersive!
