If others want to see creation pics (or other) sure, I'll try posting something as soon as I get out of work. Can anyone recomment a hosting site for the pics though?
Wouldn't want to post them on the forum and risk it being spoilers for someone wanting to get a fresh start and be surprised by himself.

Also would like the permission of mods, is it legal to post pictures before the game is officially out? (although the first release date was set the 10th and I have signed no NDA)

Depends.

If you have used privileges to get the game: Aka you are real good friend of the publisher in Switzerland and that´s the reason why you have it...

etc

If you have the above situation or similar then the answer is NO.

If you simply went to store, then you are free to go IMO.

Ekaj254 the only problem with that is that the manual is copyrighted and I wouldn't like to infringe on that.

well unless someone from egosoft or a mod tells me I can do it, I'm afraid I cant.

Sorry.

Since X3: Reunion works absolutely perfectly with XP SP3, why wouldn't X3:TC?

It's a different game so there is no way of telling. Unless the games are more or less identical but there could be loads of reasons why there could be problems. Just look at the recent release of Stalker: Clear Sky. Essentially the same game as its predecessor but was a bug festival. Hopefully Egosofts QA department are better than GSC's.

Don't recall this detail in some of the threads, but I was wondering if complex placement will be easier than in ReUnion? My complexes looked like crap!

Guys I wouldn't take any notice of Shadows posts if I were you, I seriously doubt that the distributor has even started delivering copies of the game to stores yet -he hasn't got a copy.

ps: and if I had it from another source, I wouldn't be posting it on the official forums, I registered the damn thing on here so I've got nothing to hide, just found it on the market and wanted people to know it might be available and to keep an eye out, wouldn't have bothered if I had known it would bring this kind of scrutiny.

One thing I can be reasonably sure of is that it will have been tested to work with newer versions of the operating system--if it went out the door with a bug that prevents it working on XP SP3, when X3:R did not have such a bug, then Egosoft would look like right idiots.

hey and i just saw all new characters have the story line enabled, so are the stories about the same, or are they entirely different depends on whom you choose?

oh and is each the story line actually a story like in x3, or just series of missions like in the "gal something" patch? i wonder what story can a pirate get...

btw i live in commi China....so...yeah... I wonder when can i get the copy :?

Bernd posted a reponse to that very question on the official blog a few hours ago:
http://x3tc.blogspot.com/2008/10/bernd-gamestarts-and-campaigns.html wrote:I feel I have to clear up a common misunderstanding on how the various campaigns in X3:Terran Conflict are presented. Many of the somewhat preliminary reviews that I have seen about the game so far seem to confuse gamestarts with campaigns.

X3TC lets you choose between many gamestarts. A gamestart throws you into the universe from a unique position. It changes the way you look at the universe by showing it from the perspective of a Paranid or a Terran military pilot, an Argon or other of the less frequently played species. It also means you will have completely different ships, weapons, race relations AND sometimes a few special missions to get into the game.

BUT (and thats the key information here): You can usually play all campaigns (we normally call them plots) of the game with all gamestarts. There are exceptions to this rule, but especially the gamestarts available to the player right from the start allow you to play all missions including all the main campaigns.

X3:Terran Conflict has one plot which is designed to start the game with. It is easier and a bit faster paced than the rest. This is the plot about the Terran system and you have to play it on the side of the Terran USC (military). Obviously this is easier to get into, when you start the game as a Terran military pilot. With most other gamestarts you have therefore "bridge missions" which you can pick up to get the right relation with the Terrans and get into this particular plot.

HOWEVER (and this is the second key information many reviewers miss): This game has a lot more unique mission content than just the Terran plot. There is a story that evolves around a special somewhat ancient construction built by the Terraformer for example. The german translator team mentioned this in their blog article and called it the "boron plot" (a term that I didn't hear before. We usually call it something else, but that name may spoil the story a bit, so I will from now on comply with the translator team ;)

So to put it into the language game reviewers love let me give you a nice tabular overview:
• Gamestarts: 4 from start + more than 10 activated later
• Campaigns: 5 each with unique rewards and full voice recordings.
• PLUS: Special gamestart "bridge" missions, corporation specific missions and lots of generic missions.

Well, from the third paragraph we can deduce that for experienced players willing to do the maximum possible stuff in the game, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gamestart would be the best option, since it offers a slower-paced, more-mission-involving plot..

Either way, thumbs up for this! Can't wait for the game...

P.S. a question for shadows - have you encountered any game bugs (CTD's, broken missions) in your playtime?

The way I saw it, the first four gamestarts are identical, it just changes who you do bridges with depending on if you start as the Terran USC or an X race.

Hi Shadows,

Cheers for posting those pictures mate they look brilliant and yes I'm sorry I goaded you into posting them but I really wanted to see the four starting positions and like The Great Destroyer said it's a bit of a psychological boost for the whole board because now that we can see with our own eyes that someone has the game it means It will definitely by released this Friday :D

Funnily enough I expected to see four different races for the starting spots Terran, Argon, Boron and Split (for some reason) or Paranid.

Anyhow nice pictures mate, thanks again :)
