April Fool: New forum administration

Post by BurnIt! »

Our community grows ever bigger - so much so that we are rapidly approaching the 300,000 user mark - and the number of active posters grows with it. With the release of X³: Terran Conflict in the 3rd quarter of the year will come yet more new users, while the forum administrators, particularly those working for Egosoft, have less and less time to look after the forum.

As a result of all this we have decided to move our servers and forums.

With the new, improved servers, our new host "EA-FD" provides a team for forum administrators and moderators who will, from now on, provide a professional moderating service for our forums.

We would naturally like to thank our volunteer moderators for the fantastic job that they have done, and to all other users we apologise in advance for any brief interruptions in service during the server changeover.

Thank you all - you have made the forum what it is today.

Your Egosoft Team.

you are all very welcome,

it's been an honor and a pleasure ... no a privilege - to be a part of something great and wonderful

while I am glad to see that the new mods will provide the new and professional environment, compared to the current ones
I have a warning to leave you all with

you cannot play God then wash your hands of the things that you've created

they wanted professionals as it seems though :P
X:BtF: 7/10 | X2: 8/10 | X3:R/TC/AP: 8/10 | X:R: 3/10 | X4: 0/10 (3 points for split ships and stations, 4.0 -> -50 points).
If you are raising pirate activity, give me meaningful ways to deal with them PERMANENTLY. Better things to do than replacing ships every 10 minutes, or babysitting ships getting harassed.
Stopped playing X4 with 4.0 due to outrageous, needless and pointless nerfs to everything. Don't change what wasn't broken in the first place.

So my time is over. It was a great work I could do for Egosoft in the past and I will miss it, but time changes everything. I'm sure the boys and girls from EA-FD will make a good job, but sure they can't be as good as we was ;)

I certainly hope these new professionals are also X gamers, or they probably won't understand us.

'Professional Moderator' seems somehow very impersonal. Oh well, progress, I guess. :sceptic:

And another big Thanks to all the volunteers who kept this forum running smoothly.

I suppose with the new financial year every company has to re-assess it's position regarding the whole gamut of their holdings. Then again...

...I'm sure EA-FD (if I could find them through Google) will perform admirably, though I can't help rambling on, I am getting old...

....is this Early? It's early in the UK, nearly bedtime.

Douglas Adams Liked 42 I believe, does Burnit! like 41?
Cheers,

Mark

Not fair, that is the second time I have been fooled by an April fools joke today. :) The other one was "The Destruction of Infinity", that scared me.
Hmm was wondering why the forums were all still exactly the same :D

i actually visited this forum to see what the april fools joke was, and it wasnt posted early either, dont forget to allow for area time differences
About the name - i was lost for a name on the forum and looking round, then a Bob Hope film came on, and i thought "that will do nicely"

i was born and raised argumentative i dont mean to offend ...... sorry

This has April Fools written all over it :)
I remember back when I was playing X2 heavily and for the April Fool's Prank BurnIt created a "patch" that improved game performance by blowing up just about everything in your universe when installed
