I'm probably missing something obvious here but how does that help?

If you download the Webpack from the main page, or look in the manual, there are some pointers there.

You're kidding right??!!??
And here I've been memorizing everything I've ever read on the forum and in the game manuals and such. Sheesh...all this time its been on the web. Go figure huh?
Just kidding.
For me, I really like the game. And I've done ALOT of research into the technology in the Argonopedia and some of the species as well.
You'd be surprised at how much info ISN'T there, but the sites that are listed have a wealth of knowledge if you apply them to what you want to write about.
For instance....
I use the technology from the boron in my book.
Stealth Skin doesn't truly exsist. I invented it with a little bit of research.
Everything the Boron develope has something to do with the environment that they live in. Look at the ships they fly. Even in the game, they seem to "blend in" with the surroundings. This is probably due to a grahpics design in the game...but if you have a Barracuda and you travel around to the different sectors...you'll see what I mean.
Its one of the only ships that seem to take on the colors of the surrounding space.
This is probably something that all of the ships tend to do due to reflection on the hull and the lighting. But because of the general texture of the ship, it tends to make it pick up the colors a little more. It plays with the eyes.
Thats where I got the idea. Then....I had to come up with a way to make it work that would make it so that they could pull it off. The Borons are Chemists...you do the math ;)

Everytime you start a game playing any of the X series games, you embark on a journey. You write it as you play. No two games are exactly alike. Sure...the story line may be the same, but you will never do the same things twice. You can try...but it next to impossible.
One time you might be in the middle of Presidents End when its attacked and witness the destruction....and another time you might be 20 sectors away on the other side of the galaxy.
You might have no factories by the time you do the third mission, another time you might have 20 factories.
I can't really speak for anyone else, but I take alot of things from the games that I play. it gives me a little inspiration at times. Sometimes I get a few ideas from the stories on the forums.
I used my own avitar to set the stage for the story, you'll never really read about his exploits...I'd rather have it sound as if he's narrating it ;)
And if I find a need to use someones nick from the forum....its to imortalize them in time. So many people have come and gone from the forum over the years, and personally, I don't like to say good-bye...its just a personal thing...so...if I add them to a story or chapter...they'll always be remembered. :D
Of course...I ask their permission first though. ;)
Cheers
