Problem
The mission objective says:
Deploy Nav Beacon in Hazardous Region
But:
I thought my mission was bugged.
The hazardous region is not around the wreck itself.
What actually worked:
1. Open the sector map. From above, the hazardous region forms a large "X" shape across the sector.
2. Right-click roughly in the center of the X and select "Activate Guidance to Position". This creates a navigation waypoint that you can follow in your HUD. I used this purely as a visual reference.
3. I positioned my ship below the X-shaped hazardous region and slowly flew backwards toward the guidance point.
(Use F2 for better View)
4. As soon as my ship started taking hull damage, I immediately deployed the mission navigation beacon.
5. I instantly boosted back out of the hazardous region.
The mission completed immediately.
Why flying backwards helps
Flying backwards lets you keep the dangerous area in view and makes it much easier to drop the beacon exactly when you enter the hazard.
I also believe this works from above the X-shaped hazard as well. I approached it from below, but the important part seems to be that the beacon is actually deployed inside the hazardous region once hull damage starts.
Hopefully this saves someone else from spending an hour searching like I did.
Good luck, pilots!
