Greetings,
To update from v 7.10 … I've reinstalled my non-steam version of the game to v 9.00 from GOG.
I am unable to access my saved games - or continue from where I left off.
I still have the full game (v7.10) installed on a different drive.
Is there any way I can import my saved games to the v9.00 of the game?
Mac

Re: New Install - no saved games
Nothing has changed about how or where the game loads savegames from, so unless you've deleted them, the savegames are still there and loadable in your game; no need to "import" anything.
However you've given us no information whatsoever about your system, not even what OS you're using, so it's very hard for us to help you beyond that. The forum rules, which appear at the top of the forum, and again right in front of you when you click the button to create a new post, tell you what information you need to provide.
Also, please clarify: are you trying to load saves created using a Steam version of the game into a game installed from GOG? Or was the old installation GOG too? It will work either way, but without this basic information we can't tell you how to do it.

Re: New Install - no saved games - Waiting for Response
Thanks for the guidance.
I have reinstalled Version 9.00 from GOG.
I have never used steam with X4.
The game starts up easily with no problems. There are no saved games. I do not know where to look in the directories to find the saved games.
When I was using the previous install (v7.10) the saved games are available at the start-up screen.
I still have the full game (v7.10) installed on a different drive.
I'm using X4 Foundations 9.00
With no mods or scripts.
I start the game from the X4.exe program in the parent directory where the game is installed.
I have never used X4 with steam.
I see no error messages.

Re: New Install - no saved games - Waiting for Response
To be clear, you had saves with a previous GOG X4 game and you didn't delete them but a reinstalled 9.00 is not finding them on launch. That really sounds as though one of these things might have happened:
1. You unintentionally deleted all X4 files including saves before you reinstalled.
2. Your new game installation is for a different GOG account to the one you had before and something is different (I don't use or know GOG stuff).
3. Your new X4 game is looking in a different location than one where you moved your previous saves for safe-keeping and you haven't moved or copied them them back.
4. You rely on cloud file storage/backup for X4 saves and something has gone wrong.
Please check if your local saves are actually where they should be with GOG, ie in this PC folder: Documents\Egosoft\X4\save (For GOG there is obviously no SteamID in the folder path.)
If using cloud then that would depend on your cloud service provider.

So what was it? It may help others that find themselves in your situation.

Re: New Install - no saved games - Solved
The suggestion to look in Documents\Egosoft\X4\save led to the solution. This was helpful because I did not know where to look. I found a saved game (save_001.xml.gz) in C:\Users\macjimm\Documents\Egosoft\X4\save\Alan Phipps wrote: Thu, 2. Jul 26, 15:53 So what was it? I have two versions of the game (v7.10 and v9.00). It appears that the games are saved in the same directory regardless of which version I play.
Perhaps the former saved games were deleted when I;
- Completed a new install of v9.00 or
Saved a game after starting the v9.00 game.
They might be able to copy the saves back into the Documents\Egosoft\X4\save\ folder after the install.

Reinstalling the game will not delete savegames.

Re: New Install - no saved games - Solved
Further, this hasn't really solved the original issue either. If there was a valid save in the correct save location for the GOG game then the 9.00 reinstall should have seen it there and offered it on game launch. Something strange is still going on.
You don't/didn't just use one save slot (001) do/did you? What about quicksaves and autosaves, beside using the other number slots?

Re: New Install - no saved games - Solved
One thought. When you installed the new drive, did you also change where your Windows standard Documents folder is? If so then the saves will be in the old location, and you'll need to move them to the new one.
