This is a top inquiry about mining, on discord and reddit, since 9.0. We have some issues with the right-click "mine" command, since the resource overhaul. The mine command seems to need to be placed at a specific coordinate before any miner in low attention can locate resources. (this is not how I personally mine, I know the better way, but we get this inquiry frequently)
take a look at the save I'm linking below. In silent witness I have a magpie IKO-966. I have a resource probe at the middle of a very large silicon region with at least decent yield (over 100,000 silicon). I specifically chose a very large region to illustrate the issue.
resources are present at y=0 when I am physically present. teleport to silent witness to see. I know from poking around a bit that the probed region is really centered at about y=-25 or so, but this scenario illustrates that y-coordinates aren't the only problem with mine commands. User feels they should be able to mine anywhere that resources appear on the overlay.

I suspect the region i'm mining is actually two overlapping regions. I see it at the edge of the resource field; the dynamic region appears like two overlapping circles.
what's going on: The mine command only has a 40km radius, and resource regions are very frequently much larger than that. I think the miner needs to reach a specific coordinate within the region to find resources, possibly the center? That would be very problematic for repeat orders mining, much more problematic than just that the regions themselves move around.

Re: [#5788][9.0] mine right-click command cannot find resources
I figured I'd post a save here in case it helps: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bbaZ4C ... sp=sharing
For background information: I purchased 10 Plutus Vanguard miners from PAR and set them up to mine in Oort Cloud. The single local auto miner going for ore seems to be doing OK, but the 9 ships set to mine/sell silicon via repeat orders are very much a mixed bag. Some have successfully mined and sold off their cargo up to 5 times in this save, while others haven't mined a single unit of silicon in over half an hour.
