What Do You Do With All Your Cash?

Post by DJVicious »

Just wondering what folks do with all their excess cash? I'm at a point where I'm considering buying dozens of capital ships just for fodder to find new and faster ways to destroy them. Aside from that, I'm running out of ideas.

Ok, so silliness aside.

Having one of each ship is usually a goal of mine. That includes capital ships. Some of them are fun to play with, and very useful when dealing with Xenon invasions which happen frequently. Also, having the funds to equip these ships is important as well. When you say excess cash, I wonder how much you consider that to be. I use Nividium mining to build my wealth, but there are surely other ways to do it. My original long term play had me at about 12 billion excess cash. I believe I had between 100 > 200 capital ships. That includes frigates, destroyers and carriers. I had to stop visiting my main Spacelab sector personally due to the lag from too much traffic in system.

I put my excess wealth towards building and buying capitals. Having the ability to simply build another complex that produces certain ahem missiles and weapons comes in handy as well.

My current fleet includes a dozen destroyers, mostly Paranid and Teladi holding positions to block Xenon from taking certain routes. I'm slowly building Terran ships which I prefer due to there look. Though hate how nerf they are compared to everything else. I did enjoy watching my Kyoto tank an Akuma and destroy it  along with it's escorts in Yaki space. I was trying to "borrow" one of there Advanced Chocharo so I could RE it. I planned to give it back, but they wouldn't believe me.

Sadly the Valhalla is absolutely refusing to spawn in my current play. (Egosoft!! We need a smilies where it head slams a wall full force for the forum.) :D

Its really nice though to just be able to go and buy an extra destroyer when the Xenon show you where you happen to be lacking in defenses for certain locations. I'm at the point where there invasion fleets include; 1 I, 1 K, 2 Q, 4 P, 10 to 20 fighters. I keep adding new bombers to locations as quick kill squads for dealing with those groups. Had to put some in the hub lately as they've been focusing on it.

I love your first response with the Mr. Bean meme.

I like you have billions on billons of credits just staking up with little to spend it on. I have huge complexes that make all the weapons, shields and missiles I use for my loadouts. I additionally have docks with Mammoths docked holding extra surplus of all that I make (Just in case something happens to one of my complexes and I need inventory right away). I keep additional docks for staging for cargo ships. I keep 1 dock that is loaded at all times with cargo ships that are RTG (Ready To Go) and another as a staging area (cargo ships not equipped).

I've made my fortune in Spaceweed. Just the one complex to date has earned over 40 billion in profitisssssss. I haven't looked in a pinch, but think my station count is around 600 with most of them being in complexes. Each of those are earning me billions

I do buy a block of capital ships if I need something in a hurry, but for the most part, I produce all my own ships from the HQ. I've been recently rethinking my strategy on patrol ships as it seems they cause me too many issues with race relations. Any one of my patrols will often seek out Xenon, as they do, but if they get to close to a station, they must have some accidental fire on the station and before you know it, my relations with a race will go from 5 bars to the worst enemy they've ever seen.

As it stands now, I have enough resources on hand to equip at least 100 capital ships (in addition to what I already have floating out there), hundreds on hundreds of M7's and a near countless number of M3's. So yeah, I have billions in surplus cash I'm struggling to find a use for.

Missiles are the worst offenders as for hitting stations. The dynamic relations will also get you.

When it comes to defense, I pick a couple locations to camp the gates with capitals. It's usually the routes Xenon will take from there sectors.

I don't create actual patrols, just make blockades.

My current setup/game I've been having to block up the Hub. I got it set between Neptune / Brennan's Triumph delta. Invasion fleets keep hitting me from Sector 101. My defenses, 4 destroyers, 6 bombers and a bunch of lasertowers on there entry gate. Once in a while though a I or K will just jump to Neptune instead bypassing me. Then I just gotta deal with there followers.

Where do you put your spaceweed production? I usually build mine in Homily or Perpetuity. Make the rest of my money on Nividium or selling the Duke's re-appropriated Zeus.

A complex that sells just Mosquito and Firefly missiles is gold btw. 1 and 5 MJ shield production is the same. They will pretty much stay sold out at average price. If you max the mosquito missile factory in size, yes it may drain the local economy, but it will make serious bank. I had a max size one that I started with 25 million credits. When I looked back at it, it was at a half billion. I attach its own food production though. Otherwise the local economies can't feed it properly. Solar Power Plants can though. And ore is always un abundance.

I have mine located in Grand Exchange Alpha. it is made of 15 bliss place XXL and 15 dream farm XXL. I have two (2) solar plant XXL close by. I've elected to separate them from the complex to make it easier to make extra cash from all those energy cells. To date, and in not that long of a period of time, that complex has gotten me nearly 20 billion in profits. With that complex that size, it will struggle to keep spaceweed on hand. In time, it will slow down and often hit max capacity. But worry not, ships come in and buy several million worth of it at a clip and it continues to earn a heathy revenue stream. I don't worry about running out of energy cells nor crystals as I have massive crystal production complexes and bucket tons of silo mines all max size producing. Thus, I don't worry so much about bleeding the universe dry from my over building.

I also have another one, smaller one only 5 of each needed for spaceweed production located in Blue Profit. Even with the monster one I have built, that one turns over healthy returns as well.

PRO TIP FOR THOSE READING THIS: Do not use "Automatically Adjust Price" from the station commands. Set price to 1 credit below average price and the ships will come running for what you have. Setting at average price, you'll sell some, but....not nearly as much as fast. Also, set the station manager restrictions to keep your cargo ships from transporting spaceweed. Let the buyers take all the risk.

Most of my complexes I build as closed loop as possible including energy, crystals, food and so on.

As to missiles, I have two massive complexes that make my missiles. One is made up of all the missiles you can buy from the Argons (5 of each) then has two (2) Solar XL on it plus plenty of crystal fabs, Cahoons and Beef to keep it going, thus my station controlled ships have to gather very little to keep it going. My other is all the missiles you can buy from the Paranid, same as the argon, 5 of each in the complex and all stations connected to keep cargo ships having to acquire very little.

I tend to build big and build for all that I might need in the event I piss of some race and cannot get what I need to keep my empire going.

Yea 15 each of both Spaceweed and Swamp Plant at XXL size seems like a headache to build and manage. Game engine did a number on Grand Exchange and Tears of Greed on my current playthrough. I probably got over a 100 notifications about station destructions / removals before leaving the prologue. But, at least I left it with over a 100 million credits this time. And in less than 10 days. The whole region is suffering from it. Only one crystal fab belonging to the Teladi which can barely support my own XL SPP exists. I built my own in Grand Exchange beta, but the Xenon seem determined to obliterate both Gamma and Delta. So feeding my own Crystal Fab doesn't work too well without SPP support from its local area.

I'm sticking with just 2 and 2 production, though they seem to sell out just fine at average price. Probably has to do with the seed generated at start. The Valhalla failed to generate in my game as well, along with a single jump beacon on any Xenon ships. Only 4 exists solely on rapid response ships. (checked with the all seeing eye a few times.)

Using the "Complex Planner" or "Build Complex" makes it stupid easy to build massive complexes now. My only wish from it would be that it use more than 1 TL in which to build them faster, but it's good enough. You just have to jump into sector for the complex hub and complex extensions to connect and it's all good. As far as management, I initially put 7 Athena's on it to get it stocked up, once it was good and stocked up, I took a few away form it and repurposed them to other complexes. Putting a station manager on it keep things flowing nicely.

I've built 2 large crystal complexes (10 plants each) in safe heavily guarded space. Between the ship at the stations that needs crystals and the ships at the crystal complexes themselves, my SPP's always have a ton of crystals. And I have a mountain of silco stations going all at XXL to keep plenty of silco around for the large crystal complexes and other complexes that need silco.
