Required Information in all Technical Support Requests

Please ensure that you provide the following information for all questions posted in this Technical Support forum.
  • Version and language (e.g. 8.00 Hotfix 3, English, etc.).
  • Whether or not your game is modified using any third party scripts or mods (see note below).
  • The game start you originally selected for the game in which the problem occurred.
  • Exact nature of the problem, where and when it occurs and what you were doing at the time.
  • Any possibly relevant changes you have made to your game, system, or software before the issue occurred.
  • Where appropriate, additional symptoms, error messages, links to saves, screenshots and crash dump files (see this Wiki entry).
  • Your system specifications in the form of a DxDiag report and vulkaninfo (see this Wiki entry).
Failure to provide all this information will make it pretty much impossible for people to help you and may mean that it takes longer for your problem to be identified and hopefully solved. So please don't waste your own time and everyone else's by just posting something like "My game freezes. Help!!!".

If you are supplying information that will not conveniently fit into posts in this forum (approx 70,000 character limit per post), in the worst case you can split long text files across 2 consecutive posts, or ideally you can upload the data to a reputable public fileshare site (a few examples are Google Drive, DropBox or PasteBin, etc) but please don't use sites that spam advertising or require registration for downloads. Please use in your post the open public sharing link to your file(s) that will not require any account or registration for others to download.

Note: Support for third party modifications must be provided by the authors of those modifications, and any requests for such support should be posted in the appropriate thread in the Scripts and Modding forum.

9.0 Beta 6, English Freezes within a few minutes of loading

Since the latest update i encounter freezes within a few minutes of loading.
I can't seem to find a trigger, and i've updated bios, reinstalled nvidia drivers and checked all other drivers and checked drives and system image. I also tried the older Nvidia drivers i was using before the beta on the off chance but same issue.
Completely Vanilla, no mods or scripts. I can't even remember what game start, is there a way to check in game?
I never had this problem in previous versions so i assume its just related to something in Beta 6, but the game will just freeze though if i hit any menu buttons the mouse pointer will change, but it no longer renders and changes and i have to alt tab out and force close.
Sadly no crash dumps as it just freezes.

As its only happened with the latest beta, i believe its just some quirk of my h/w config and the latest beta version, but any steps to try or guidance would be really appreciated, and happy to supply a save if you think its of any use.

Hi, have you verified the game installation since the last update? It could be a corrupt game installation or update download/installation.

When you reinstalled your Nvidia graphics driver, was it a clean reinstall with all the old driver components removed first?

Is there any reason why you didn't post this in the beta forum if you suspect it to be a problem with the beta alone?

From your DxDiag:

Your integrated Intel UHD graphics seems to have a lot of 'unknowns' in the DxDiag report and that makes me wonder if its driver and hence Vulkan are properly installed and set up. Although you don't use the integrated graphics for X4, the device Vulkan versions do have to be able to talk to each other. It might be worth updating or reinstalling the appropriate WHQL Intel UHD graphics driver and hence Vulkan just in case.

Unfortunately you don't have Windows Error Reporting enabled in your DxDiag and so there are no further clues there, sorry.

You have an Intel 14th Gen cpu and it might be the known Memory Access Issue that some 13/14th Gen Intel cpus shipped with, but you say that you have already updated the BIOS which should address this issue as long as progressive permanent damage to the cpu has not already been done.

Hi, sorry forgot to mention that, yes i have verified and moved to a different drive just in ase.
Clean install the last few times.
That might have been me just getting my brain twisted, you're right the beta forum given how it really seems linked, so sorry for that,
I have the most recent version and have reinstalled the latest UHD driver from intel after bios update, 'just in case;.
i've kept the bios as up to date as i can, although due to issues with GCC its been a few months since the latest was released, but its literally only just since the latest beta that its started falling over.
Windows Error Reporting is set to manual triggered but as its just freezing its not really generating any error logs.
Might try a different save just to see if its something specific about the one i'm on, but i'm pretty much out of ideas since it seems to be very specifically my h/w combo and the latest beta.

I dont have any issues with any other games. I'll try and fix the UHD and see if that makes any difference.

edit: i thought maybe i'll try editing the settings and the same type of freeze happened on the menu whilst i was twiddling with graphics settings.
