M7D and repair drones

I obtained the first drone carrier, Cormorant, from the Teladi.

How does the command to "repair ship" even work?

Apparently, Teladi's Mining Drones suck at repair, but they do have repair lasers so they do have some repair capabilities.

There doesn't seem to be any option to actually target the ship I want to repair.

By default, the Cormorant doesn't have Drone Command Software, and I had to buy one separately. The "software sold separately" is very in-character for the Teladi, I must admit...

Without the software, drones won't even launch, but I sorted that out already.

Could I target NPC ship and try to repair them? Would drones repair NPC ships? Would they repair my ships if they get close to the M7D? How to I assign a new drones to the carrier? I could manufacture more mining drones, but they won't count as owned by the drone carrier and there is no option in their command console to set the homebase as I could for other ships.

You dont actually need the drone command software, that is for other drones like fighter and freight drones.

For repairing ship, you run the repair ships command and then the drone carrier will repair any of your ships in range.
The drones will only repair your ships, not NPC ships.

To add more drones you just have to dock them on the drone carrier, they are added automatically

Thank you for your advice. Repair still works. It is strange since it doesn't repair specific vessel, but all player owned ship within the system in random order.

I suppose this is not a way to gain achievement for repairing NPC ship?

For that achievment you need to do it using your spacesuit laser. Just find ajy damaged ahip, get into your apace suot ajd fire the repair laser to get the achievement
