Required Information in all Technical Support Requests

Please ensure that you provide the following information for all questions posted in this Technical Support forum.
  • Version and language (e.g. 8.00 Hotfix 3, English, etc.).
  • Whether or not your game is modified using any third party scripts or mods (see note below).
  • The game start you originally selected for the game in which the problem occurred.
  • Exact nature of the problem, where and when it occurs and what you were doing at the time.
  • Any possibly relevant changes you have made to your game, system, or software before the issue occurred.
  • Where appropriate, additional symptoms, error messages, links to saves, screenshots and crash dump files (see this Wiki entry).
  • Your system specifications in the form of a DxDiag report and vulkaninfo (see this Wiki entry).
Failure to provide all this information will make it pretty much impossible for people to help you and may mean that it takes longer for your problem to be identified and hopefully solved. So please don't waste your own time and everyone else's by just posting something like "My game freezes. Help!!!".

If you are supplying information that will not conveniently fit into posts in this forum (approx 70,000 character limit per post), in the worst case you can split long text files across 2 consecutive posts, or ideally you can upload the data to a reputable public fileshare site (a few examples are Google Drive, DropBox or PasteBin, etc) but please don't use sites that spam advertising or require registration for downloads. Please use in your post the open public sharing link to your file(s) that will not require any account or registration for others to download.

Note: Support for third party modifications must be provided by the authors of those modifications, and any requests for such support should be posted in the appropriate thread in the Scripts and Modding forum.

[8.x: can't claim Yasur -- no Ventures Inventory]

Post by z3th »

fired up my current long-standing save (modified, and dating back several game versions) for 8.x and the envoy pack only to find my yasur is missing. when attempting to get another one, i see no ventures inventory tab available in my inventory menu anymore. the online features menu in settings is greyed out too.

here are the following steps i tried so far:
  • disabled suspect mods like kuertee's UI extensions to re-enable protected UI mode, which made the online features menu available again upon restart
  • from this menu, re-logged in to my account, and just in case unlinked then linked my steam here on the egosoft website
  • restarted the game, which updated my ventures extension from the workshop. in-game it says it's been validated successfully at version 1.25
  • loaded my save, but still see no ventures inventory tab
  • started a new open universe game just in case -- still no ventures inventory tab
what am i doing wrong? i just want my goddamn yasur back.

link to my save file here

ps: another weird thing: when in the main menu upon first launching the game, online features shows i'm logged in, but once in-game, the username field is reset to "self" and if i try to log in here again, the username field keeps resetting itself to "self" when i hit the log in button. related bug?

You need to log in to Online Features in-game (vanilla) using your forum username and password when a link has been set up with your Steam account. I just did this and it worked with no username changes to 'self' etc. However, if it says you are already logged in but nothing related is working in-game then that sounds as though your Steam account linkages have changed somehow since you last logged in. Try logging out and in again.

In your Inventory select the Venture Tab top and at the bottom of the screen you should have several entries including a Yasur. If the download count shows 1/1 there will be a little download arrow for you to click to download the Yasur. If the download count is 0/1 then your game or maybe account already has a Yasur somewhere.

Loading a previously modded save is not vanilla whatever you have since done to your game installation or by disabling mods; the changes are in the save. I won't be downloading that save.

BTW: Some 3rd party mods are known to mess with Egosoft top level menus and can break selecting online mode plus maybe showing the 'self' issue. Some of the mods mentioned were Kuertee's UIX and Sir Nuke's, but the mods should contain a disclaimer such as:
"Warning: several X4 online features are disabled by this mod due to egosoft restrictions when top level menus are patched."

I too was having a similar issue to the OP. If you're modded, on the main screen you can still be shown as "logged in", but running a modded game and coming back to the Online Features it will say "self" in the username, and even if you clear it and put in your username/password, it will still go back to "self"; I think this is just Ego's way to keep you "offline" for ventures when running a modded save (as you can have a modded save without specific extensions, so there has to be a way to catch both).

What helped me, is after removing mod extensions - I went into "Manage DLC" on the steam library page, turned off all DLCs, ran the game, exited the game, turned on Community of Planets Edition, then reran the game - the Yasur Mk1 showed up in my Ventures Inventory (you do have to click "enable Ventures extension" to see the Yasur). Currently turning all the DLCs back on, but I will assume that the Yasur will persist now (will reply again if it goes away again).

I wonder if one just did a disable/enable cycle for the Community of Planets - Bonus Content DLC on the library page, if it could resolve it. I just went all out and did everything.

I tried this and that didn't work. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. I posted in Steam forums and hopefully find a solution there, if so I'll post it here as well.

I had to reinstall the entire game and restart it twice.

Something to do with the extension needing a reboot and settings holding over and blocking the activation. a real PITA

1st
So, there is a setting that gets baked in if you ever modded the game. Even when you undo the mods it stays checked in un-modded games, and I'm not sure where it is, as I learned this through Google Translate and watching a Russian help thread.
So I did a clean re-install to make sure it was purged.

2nd, the first boot-up, won't work. You have to enable the extension, reboot. get into your game, activate the extension in the game...and reboot AGAIN! ffs egosoft, it's DLC not the presidential bunker

So, nuclear reinstall was my solution, and the reason why it was my only option.
