I've played all the X3 games, and X Rebirth.
Before Christmas, I picked up X4 and all the DLC.
Steam says I've put in 425 hours so far, but a lot of that was AFK, leaving the game running in the background or overnight, for the Terraforming missions.
At this point, I have completed nearly all missions in the game... all questlines complete, all terraforming missions complete, and I'm just finishing the Xenon Crisis now (which is VERY tedious). That should be everything. Well, except achievements... I'm at 73% right now.
I have some feedback, below. I know a lot of this is probably solved with mods. But I also think that perhaps some of these should be baked into the base game, instead of relying on mods to fix them.
============================================================
My High Priority Items:
Would love to have variants of the Intercept and Bombard fleet commands, that allow your ships to attack secondary targets if they run out of primary targets. Similar to the turret commands "target fighters first" or "target capital ships first".
If you turn your PHQ into a megastation, the FPS can be quite bad when you visit the Science Laboratory, or Embassy, or your personal office. Would love the option to 'close the windows' and switch those three zones especially to Low-Attention, which hopefully would improve the FPS massively.
Allow multiple construction ships to build a station at the same time, to speed up construction. 30 Construction Drones per ship, and maybe up to 5 ships maximum. This would be especially handy when building mega-stations.
Would love to be able to right-click and Hide ships and stations in their property list. We could have an Eye icon in the object list that toggles visibility of hidden items!
============================================================
Miscellaneous Items:
Station construction estimates should take about 5-10% additional credits, in case ware prices increases. When construction is complete, any leftover funds should be automatically deposited back to the player's account.
The player should receive notifications if station construction is being held up for some reason. Eg, the price of wares increased and you were unable to buy enough materials.
Add a larger variety of station announcements! Should be easy low-hanging fruit, and opportunities for shennanigans. Maybe a Station Announcement contest with the community? But also, add a game menu option for the player to be able to adjust the announcemnet frequency (including being able to turn them off).
Allow players to use SETA while sitting in their ship and docked at a station. (or maybe allow SETA while on foot too?)
Block a player from selling a ship to a faction if the ship is currently under attack, or in a system that is hostile to the player or to the buying faction.
Allow the player to scan a ship even if they're targeting one of its subcomponents.
Would like turret commands to specifically target ship subcomponents (eg, engines, shields, weapons, or all, as well as priotizing subcomponents that you are targeting).
Boarding operation statistics (especially losses and promotions) should be captured in the player's log.
Collect Drops and Deposit Inventory work great for a pilot with Repeat Orders. However, it would be nice if we could also Deposit Cargo in addition to Deposit Inventory, in case the pilot picks up cargo wares like Microchips, Hull Parts, etc.
Safe Deposit Storage should have a button to deposit all potentially illegal goods, if any of the main races ban the item.
Would like to have more options for setting up ship detection alerts (eg, alert the player if a ship is found with "Prometheus" in the name)
Paint mods should not be consumable items... should just be locked or unlocked, or eligible / ineligible. Then you could have entire fleets of ships that all use the same awesome paint scheme! Why limit a cosmetic?
Would like gameplay option to disable automatic docking unless you explicitly request it with the hotkey (Shift-D). (prevents you from docking accidentally if you're hunting criminal traffic and the target pops up in a docking bay).
It is generally not cool to have achievements in the game that are impossible to achieve. What's up with Ventures? Bring them back, OR just simulate them, so the player can do them again!
Would like an option to enable an alert when Avarice is about to experience the Tide (eg, 10 minute warning, 5 minute warning).
Sometimes fleet movement can be extremely slow, as the fleet leader waits for all of the ships to catch up - especially when moving between gates. Would love an option to force the fleet to move at maximum speed and not wait for anyone.
Advanced and Exceptional mods should be more common throughout the universe, and the player should have a chance to find them as a drop from almost any ship, instead of requiring the player to hunt BUC ships (especially Prometheus ships).
Allow the player to set specific modules that are being constructed to "high priority", to effectively change the build order for your stations.
Would love to be able to trade directly between a station's internal storage and its build storage. Could just use the station's cargo drones!
I would recommend some tweaks to the Xenon Crisis. Perhaps have it only do 3 probing system attacks, instead of 10+. But then, reconnect a random deactivated jump gate somewhere, and link it to a small cluster of thriving Xenon sectors. An enormous fleet of say 30 K's, 10 I's, and hundreds of fighters can then pour out, and the Xenon shipyards would just start pumping out ships to try to take over the universe.
For Diplomacy, I would love to be able to be able to have agents repeat their orders, so you can have 3 or 4 agents maintaining influence, another 2 or 3 collecting caviar, and a left-over 1 or 2 agents that you use manually for manipulating factions.
Combat pilots do not really seem to gain skills very quickly... the primary method of improving pilot skill seems to be seminars, instead of experience. This seems odd to me... recommend increasing experience gain rate.

Nice list, well written and I can't even really disagree with anything - which is a shame, I like disagreeing.
Don't drink and jumpdrive.

Ah, something I can disagree with, thank you!

What i miss since Version 1.0 of the game is a feature to group your ships "without creating wings or fleets" on your property list.
My list of ships without commander is huuuuuuuuuuuuge, and the only thing that could give it structure would be to be able to group them so you can unfold it like fleets.
e.g.
Create a group Autominers, a group Police, a group Universe Trader, ....
This would be sooo much more structured and flexible to use. You could even put fleets in there.
And the second thing i wished since the first expedition beta (since its here with terraforming to):
Change the sound of the success for terraforming/expeditions to something not that brutal. Or make it less loud, or give us an option to change the sound/make it less loud. Guys i'm over 40. I don't want to die over an heartattack.
Btw, that was implemented and removed, because it did not work the most times:
"Would love to be able to trade directly between a station's internal storage and its build storage. Could just use the station's cargo drones!"
An option on Ship assignment for captains/pilots, to man the pilot seat with one of the trained staff from your planets, right when you build them e.g. a checkbox "Use trained personal first". Then introduce a station module with a capacity of 100 pilots to put your trained pilots there and your shipyard pulls them till they are empty until it starts to put one star pilots in the seat.
You can train bulks of hundrets of good pilots. But if you wan't to man a raptor with 100 4 star fighter pilots its tedious. If its meant to just use for L/XL ships, then why the need to make 100 at once. Then 20 would be sufficient too.

They don't read wish lists, and rarely ever consider posts asking for a single item.RainerPrem wrote: ↑Sat, 24. Jan 26, 07:09Nice list. Unfortunately, devs don't read lists of wishes. OTOH, most of those have already their own threads here.
