Hello!
Something of a first time X player, but Im curious try with head-tracking using Opentrack but Im having a bit of trouble getting it to work sadly,
I can get X4 to report that it is connecting to my Opentrack install, but none of the controls seem to work?
What I've tried:
Make sure that I was running the latest version of X4 on Steam (Version 8.0 580735)
Ensured that the output in Opentrack is set to 'UDP over network', setting the IP to 127.0.0.1 and port to 4242 and ensured opentrack is launched and tracking is enabled before starting X4
Enabled OpenTrack Support under Controls> OpenTrack support (which shows it is connected to Opentrack), and (this bit I'm a less sure about as in youtube videos about this, the menus look slightly different) and under 'Tobii' settings I've set Track mode to 'Head-track' as there is no specific opentrack settings that appear in the configuration menu, and setting this to disabled seemed to disable headtracking in game totally (For example, pressing Ctrl-T in game with this setting on 'Disabled' would always report that head-tracking was disabled)
Tried switching on/off Head tracking in game with Ctrl-T
Tried resetting head position in game (Scroll lock)
Tried switching Mouse look mode to Toggle, and toggling it on/off in game. I have noticed that if I have it toggled ON in game with head-tracking enabled then trying to look around with the mouse does not work (presumably because of headtracking)
Set a rule to allow connection to OpenTrack in Windows firewall + also tried disabling the firewall totally to ensure that was not mucking with things
Just to make sure Opentrack was working at all, I've tried it on other supported games like Euro Truck Simulator (using the Freetrack output) and it worked fine.
Hopefully someone has an idea of what might be going wrong?
EDIT - Been testing random things, trying to see if I can get any progress.
Turns on debug logging, utterly nothing of any value seems to be recorded (using -logfile debuglog.txt -showfps -debug all) the log file is created, but its mostly very mudane things like 'loading save games' and updates about the in game economy. nothing that seems relevant to the issue at hand.
So far, setting the game to 4.0 and openTrack to 'Freetrack' seemed to work straight away out of the box when starting a fresh save...
This seems to be up to version 7.5 which introduces explicit Opentrack support and seems to break Freetrack in-game and which point I cant get it to work at all...
Managed to find another game thats supported HeadTracking over UDP (Outerwilds) and it also works right out of the box, so I know my setup is working, seems the fault is with X4

Re: [Bug Report] [8.0] Opentrack headtracking with X4
Hey,
I've also been working with OpenTrack.
I use the AITrack and OpenTrack software.
Both need to be running simultaneously.
In AITrack -> Configuration -> Select Camera / 640 x 480 30FPS
and Use Remote OpenTrack... 127.0.0.1 Port 4243 -> Apply
In OpenTrack -> Input UDP over Network -> set Port 4243 there.
Output UDP over Network -> set IP 127.0.0.1 Port 4242 there.
I start AITrack "Start Tracking" and then OpenTrack Tracking Start. I can see the octopus moving in OpenTrack.
I start X4 and, like you, enable OpenTrack support under Controls in the settings. It immediately shows "Connected" for me.
Turn head tracking on/off in the game with Ctrl-T.
I was standing in the spaceship and nothing happened.
But then I took control of the ship and only then did the head tracking work.
So this is only used when you are steering the ship.
Then you just had to fine-tune the settings in Opentrack.
