Required Information in all Technical Support Requests

Please ensure that you provide the following information for all questions posted in this Technical Support forum.
  • Version and language (e.g. 8.00 Hotfix 3, English, etc.).
  • Whether or not your game is modified using any third party scripts or mods (see note below).
  • The game start you originally selected for the game in which the problem occurred.
  • Exact nature of the problem, where and when it occurs and what you were doing at the time.
  • Any possibly relevant changes you have made to your game, system, or software before the issue occurred.
  • Where appropriate, additional symptoms, error messages, links to saves, screenshots and crash dump files (see this Wiki entry).
  • Your system specifications in the form of a DxDiag report and vulkaninfo (see this Wiki entry).
Failure to provide all this information will make it pretty much impossible for people to help you and may mean that it takes longer for your problem to be identified and hopefully solved. So please don't waste your own time and everyone else's by just posting something like "My game freezes. Help!!!".

If you are supplying information that will not conveniently fit into posts in this forum (approx 70,000 character limit per post), in the worst case you can split long text files across 2 consecutive posts, or ideally you can upload the data to a reputable public fileshare site (a few examples are Google Drive, DropBox or PasteBin, etc) but please don't use sites that spam advertising or require registration for downloads. Please use in your post the open public sharing link to your file(s) that will not require any account or registration for others to download.

Note: Support for third party modifications must be provided by the authors of those modifications, and any requests for such support should be posted in the appropriate thread in the Scripts and Modding forum.

[#4773] 8.0 HF3 High-attention Miner Fails to Mine

These two Manorina Sentinels are sitting here staring at an asteroid being totally useless rather than mine it. Not entirely clear why. Their order does not fail, they just won't shoot the rock. I know they are physically capable of mining as they've done it before, but they're not doing it now.

This is I think at least the 3rd time I've reported high-attention mining. Every now and then I make the apparently misguided choice to ride along with my miners, and eventually, version after version, it always breaks.

Here again I saved because I saw a ship staring down an asteroid. Went for coffee and when I came back it's facing the same rock, spinning pointlessly.

Curiously this asteroid is damaged already when I made the save, which suggests the ship was at least at some point able to fire. Then it just stopped.

Hello, I too sometimes like to fly alongside my miners and ensure their protection myself.

In high-attention / in sector, I have observed the same behavior as LameFox. Sometimes miners stop doing anything for no valid reason. Sometimes they abandon their drones. All these problems disappear as soon as you leave the sector.

I find it really unfortunate that these problems have existed for a very long time, have been reported several times, and that nothing has changed after all these years. It's a fundamental feature of the base game.

Right now, X4 is going to receive a lot of updates and has received many recently, and really good ones at that.

This problem should now be fixed in v9, I sincerely hope so.

@ luminik: The best way to get things investigated and fixed by the devs as you seem to want is to link a vanilla save that shows the issue happening. That way the devs can see if you have the exact same issue as the OP which is already logged for investigation, or if not it becomes another use-case for them to address.

I know, but unfortunately I can't provide such a backup, as I'm in an advanced and modified run. All I can say is that this problem seems to be universal for everyone. I'm really sorry, but please trust Lamefox.

It's not about "trusting" someone, it's about having evidence that can actually investigated be acted upon. Just saying that you have a problem too, or claiming that "everyone" does, doesn't give us that and adds nothing to the chances of us being able to do anything about it.

I can't provide you with a save file because it has been modified. Several searches show that many players are talking about this. Trusting may not be the right word, but I mean that he has the same problem and seems to have a valid save file.

Many players know that it is best to avoid staying in the same area as miners to prevent problems, this is a well-known concern among players.
