Tachyon Developments proudly presents the artistically stunning Boron Collection!

Post by Targ Collective »

LINK FOR STATIONS AND SCREENSHOTS IS IN THE SIG, READMES ARE ACTUALLY USEFUL SO READ THEM

Everyone needs stations if they want to have economic strength and riches - needed for terraforming and fleet strength, useful for equipping or even building ships with the best technology from all the different species and factions. But building stations is time consuming and actually quite difficult to make aesthetically pleasing.

That's why Tachyon Developments founded our station construction mission - beautiful and practical stations for every economic purpose, from minimum-build solar plants all the way to heavy weapons platforms and shipyards.

Tachyon Developments' Architect has at last got to grips with the Boron design aesthetic and now presents the Boron Collection, providing for all the economic needs of a Boron playthrough. If the Boron buy it, we make it.

Why not check out our documentation for a full station catalogue? And if a station catches your eye then perhaps you'll even load up your Construction Simulator and check a flyby or enjoy the view from one of many observation decks.

Tachyon Developments - Faster than the Speed of Light!

Superluminal construction not guaranteed.

Just so you are aware, your entertaining presentation went right over someone's head and they reported this a advertising spam. Needless to say, I've closed the report.

Station design is an ongoing process. I've noticed a few build errors on playtesting these builds - Obdecks take bad horizontals, a station is missing a Solid storage - the food and medical lab - and Boron weapons place emphasis on Advanced Composites. There's also a station missing a production prerequisite - the 'Careful and Reluctant' is missing Silicon Wafers. The Forms of Water Milspec also needs Terran shields and weapons, and with the exception of Obdecks these are all supposed to just need Boron blueprints. (I consider Obdecks an essential part of the station building experience and you can remove them easily if you wish for a completely Boron-bottlenecked experience.)

This unfortunately means I'll need to do a complete rebuild of the 'Careful and Reluctant' to place emphasis on the Advanced Composite supply, and I'm considering with little enthusiasm the possibility of a 'Market Currents' style station around Solid and Gas storage.

As a creative I do my best work when 'in the zone' because if I'm not properly focused I'll have to redo everything several times over. :) My style is to build the stations in game from scratch to see if they play right, and I am in the process of playtesting from the Boron Herald start to see how things play out. Here are my observations:

Early credit bottlenecks hit hard and the Tachyon Developments stations all need max build plots which are expensive. If you want to graze the Boron Economy then purchasing some mineral and gas miners will return on profit quickly. Do not delay on setting up a solid-gas trade station.

Fill Shortages is like X3 Universal Traders. Needs two star pilots. If you want to use these, then go for it, but if they buy high supply without high demand to match then they'll have full cargo bays and nowhere to unload. Need trade rules if you want to tether them to a faction territory. Don't overload them with multiple cargo types unless you're sure there's demand for all of them - Bofu, Medical, Bogas, Plankton, Water and Energy are always in demand, Solids and Liquids are always in demand, first stage processing is almost always in demand. The more stages of reprocessing, the more you'll need specialist traders. Once you've got an Aerial Maze on a planet you can generate large amounts of skilled pilots; this is when Fill Shortages opens up. Hint: Get them on resupply and station construction supply as they have infinite range.

Energy cells are always in demand. The first maxed station area should be s 'Solarsurge' pruned from the top to suit your scaling needs.

Profit opportunities should be prioritised in Boron space by: Solid-Gas sales with station; Energy Cell sales with production; trade station with low capacity that can be built up as you go; trading fleet. In Boron space there are no Kha'ak attacks, and they provide trading stations that trade in minerals and gasses.

These notes are a little stream of consciousness, I'm considering adding a brief play guide to help players along and these are a rough draft of the key points in that. I''ll be honest, if you're building to the Tachyon standard then just being able to afford the blueprints means you won't exactly need a guide and first time players probably won't be thinking in terms of megabuilds because they'll still be learning how the economy fits together. And it would mean more Readme to read, of course.
