[7.60] Map issues. - No repro.

Post by taztaz502 »

After a few minutes of play the map glitches out making me unable to select ships or give orders, i'm also unable to change tabs on map e.g. to owned property etc. i've no idea what caused this issue or if it's just because there is a lot happening and the game can't cope.

No hardware changes since i began this save, or any other changes but this glitch makes the game unplayable, all recent save games are replicating the issue.

Reason: Editing the title to say the issue isn't appearing again.

Hi. A quick check of your DxDiag showed the following:

1. Your Nvidia graphics driver (and its Vulkan) can be updated if you wish to try that.

2. You have many different sound devices and drivers on the go at the same time. I would disable any that you don't use in Control Panel, Device Manager, Sound/Audio Devices and right-click on a device in the list for a disable/enable pop-up. This is easily reversed the same way.

3. Nearly all of your Windows Error Reports are with iCUEDevicePluginHost.exe and its SMBCtrl.dll. The iCUEDevicePluginHost.exe is a process that helps manage Corsair devices connected to your computer and the SMBus controller specifically is responsible for communication between the system's motherboard and various components, such as the RGB controller. In your case it seems to be the Corsair iCUE Link AIO LCD Screen Module. I don't know if this is at all connected with your game issue although it is always worth checking and fixing reported system errors if you can.

Good luck.

Is what you're seeing is similar to this? If so then we have not yet been able to reproduce it, so the more information you can give us, the better. If it's something different then please explain in more detail.

No but i did have that issue before this occurred which i posted about previously, now this is a new issue.

Basically a minute or two after i open the game i'm unable to see any ships/stations etc on the "property owned tab" on the map, i also have to close the map using ESC as M no longer works.

I did as alan suggested, restarted my computer and tried the game again which replicated the issue, but now after you've posted i've opened the game to try capture a video and now it's working.

I will update if it starts to happen again.

Edit: *updated DXDiag

I don't think this is related to your in-game UI issue but the new DxDiag now shows a crop of several new but vaguely related system errors since the previous ones:

1. CorsairCpuIdService.exe with nvml.dll which is part of the C based NVIDIA Management Library (NVML) development facility that manages Data Centre gpus.
2. LEDKeeper2.exe which is an MSI program for RGB lighting control.
3. QmlRenderer.exe with Qt6Gui.dll which is a QT6 C++ application development framework file.

I have no idea what any of that means for you as it sounds very hardware, application and use-case specific. Sorry.

Yeah i think a lot of that is just to do with RGB controllers, it's just poor software.

I wonder if opening Nvidia app has reverted some settings, as i was playing around Nvidia DLSS Settings which VASTLY improved performance, like night and day.

I had this issue for about a month before i decided to make this topic and had updated GPU drivers during that time but nothing i did could get the game to function and as i say after i did the suggestions you first posted i ran into the same issue, it was only when i launched the game again and tried to capture footage that it started working.

I played a few hours today and have been unable to replicate it. Guess the bugs got shy.

I honestly thought my save was corrupted, Either way i just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to look at my DXDiag and identify any possible issues and i'm sorry i can't provide anymore information as to why this occurred.
