[HELP] Xenon modules for any ship

Hello,
I've been trying to figure out how to mod xenon tech (engines, needler gun, seismic charge etc) for any ship in the game.
I don't understand what makes it impossible to slot into a ship. I played around with connection types, tags, tried making a copy of it with changed parameters, but I just can't get it to work.
I just recently started modding, because I genuinely wanted a mod like that for my playthrough, but apparently there is none, at least I couldn't find it at all. That's why I decided to try and make it myself and I just can't do it. I don't understand modding that much, and hope that someone might have a solution, or decide to help me out with this one.
