"Move to Position" command bug

Post by Wing2137 »

I've encountered a rather odd issue within the Command Console. (I'm playing X3:FL with the Unofficial Patch [1.3.19] for reference.)

The "Move to Position" command used to be able to move ships to specific points in other sectors. For example, if I gave that command to any of my ships to move from "Argon Prime alpha" to "Argon Prime beta", the ship will fly through the Gate that leads to the latter sector, and then move to that exact point in the sector. The problem I'm having, is the command no longer does that. The only time they will "Move to Position" in a different sector is if the "AutoJump" command is enabled and it's within the threshold of using the Jumpdrive. This is a bit impractical, as sectors that only have Trans-Orbital Accelerators won't respond to this command out of sector, and not every ship will always have a Jumpdrive installed. Now I have to use the command "Fly through Gate" in order to get a ship to fly to the said sector. Afterwards, the "Move to Position" command will work if the order is issued within the same sector the ship is in. This is rather inconvenient since it requires an extra command, some baby-sitting, and makes it somewhat more difficult to move multiple ships or even a fleet from one sector to the next.

I'm not exactly sure when this bug started, but I noticed it earlier today when I was trying to move my TL-class Freighter from "Ocean of Fantasy beta" to "Ocean of Fantasy alpha" in order to deploy a station for a "Build" Mission. It seems to affect every ship you can issue this command to, even if you're piloting it. Autopilot will engage, but the ship will just sit there and do nothing. It will only execute the command if it can jump to that sector. If anyone else using the current Unofficial Patch could confirm if they're also having this bug, I'd appreciate it. I'm not sure if it was caused by the recent patch, or my game's command scripts are just freaking out. I used to use the "Move to Position" command all the time in the past without incident. Ships would simply fly to the said sector and then move into the position I told them to go to. They don't do that anymore now unless they can Jump there. :headbang:

UPDATE: So, I rolled back to the previous Unofficial Patch [1.3.18], and it seems to have restored the previous function. From what I can tell, something in [1.3.19] seems to have busted the "Move to Position" command. Cycrow, or another Moderator, if you guys are reading this, feel free to merge this post with the "Unofficial Patch" in here: viewtopic.php?t=448962

Im not able to reproduce this, it seems to work fine for me.

you could try reinstalling 1.3.19 incase it was an install issue.

If you can send me a save game which shows it, ill see if there is something in the save

It looks like that did it! I'm not sure why I even had that bug in the first place... I had assumed it was some sort of bug in the newer version of the Unofficial Patch when I rolled back to [1.3.18] and the command suddenly worked again, but it looks like reinstalling the latest version [1.3.19] made all of the difference. I guess when I installed it the first time, something got goofed up. I was loading older saves and starting newer games, and I was still getting the same issue. I feel stupid for not thinking of reinstalling it again, lol.

Thanks, Cycrow! :D
