How do you sell ships?!?!? - May be mod effect.
I may be late to the game (but have been playing in the X universe since BtF), and only have just started X3FL. One thing that has me completely baffled is HOW DO YOU SELL OFF CLAIMED SHIPS?? I dock the ship at a friendly shipyard, go to the trade menu.....and only have the option to upgrade the ship. I have tried taking all wares off of the ship, I have tried boosting noteriety with the race that owns the shipyard, all to no avail. Can somoen please help a tired old man, with a simple answer? I would really appreciate this. (I need the cash! lol)

Re: How do you sell ships?!?!?
First off, you cannot be onboard the ship you want to sell! With that settled, order the ship you want to sell to dock at the yard. It's best to not be in that sector while this is happening. Once it's docked, you'll see the value of the ship should you sell it. Then just sell it.
In FL, the price you get for selling a ship varies depending on your notoriety with that faction. Sell it at the one you have the highest notoriety with.

Re: How do you sell ships?!?!?
Thanks for replying. I should have mentioned that I have done all this - I have been selling ships throughout the X games with no problem at all. In FL, however, I order the ship I wish to sell to a shipyard, while piloting another ship. I have the remote trading extension upgrade on my ship. Once the sale ship has docked, I go to the shipyard's menu, select 'trade' and am presented with a list of stations and ship that I can buy. On the top of that list, I see the ship I wish to sell, but the ONLY option, for it, is to upgrade it - no 'sell' option. I then try docking on the shipyard myself in my ship (in case the remote trading extension is hosed) and try again, with the same results. I am baffled.Jimmy C wrote: ↑Tue, 13. At this point, the only thing I can think of, is that I have installed some cheats, via the Plug-in manager, and somehow one of those cheat scripts has pooched the sell option.. I am going to remove them all, start a purely vanilla game, and see if the option to sell was nerfed by a script I had installed.
Thanks again

Selling a ship is easy. It shouldn't be stopped by a mod.Sadiq wrote: ↑Tue, 13. May 25, 15:56

Dock the ship to sell remotely at any friendly shipyard. Open the trade menu with that shipyard. You should see a couple sections. There are 2 lists. One shows the value of the ship, the other gives the option to upgrade. With the ship highlighted, there is a price to the right of it, press left and hit enter. It will sell the ship as is at the shown price.
Top section and bottom section.
Top Section:
Your Argon Nova -----------------------------------------> Shows credit value over here.
You highlight up here and press left then enter. There is no confirmation so once its done, its done.
Make sure it is fully repaired before you sell it. Price takes hull condition and all equipment / cargo into consideration.
Bottom Section:
Select ship to upgrade.

SOLVED!!!
After playing extensively with adding/removing mods to see what affect they had, I was no closer to a solution...and then BrigandPhantos77 mentioned in his reply that Hull state of repair affects sell price, whice inspired me to try something. I use the Cycrow package of cheats, and had used it to set the claimed ships to 'God mode' and 'No collisions' to facilitate getting them to the shipyards without incident. Based on my inspiration, I took those cheats off of the ships, and lo and behold! The option to sell them. returned!
The thing that confused me, was that in X3:AP, I was able to sell ships, with the God Node active on them. X3:FL must have made a subtle change in the code that prevented this.
Thanks for the reply, guys, and I hope this helps others, that have experienced the same problem!

God mode in TC and AP just keeps setting your hull and shield too 100%.
But in FL it does it at the engine level, making it like invulnerable plot ships. You can't sell ships that are marked as invulnerable

Good to know! Thanks for explaining it. It also explains why - in TC and AP - there were rare occasions, when a ship was in God mode, that they could still be destroyed...presumably by a missile or other weapon that was powerful enough to do damage greater than the ship's shield and huil strengths combined, in one shot. I'm glad the matter is resolved...now, I am off, to conquer the universe

Funny thing in TC/AP. If you hit an asteroid fast enough it overcame the god mode. Instant kaboom. As did entering the atmosphere of a planet zone at some point.Sadiq wrote: ↑Fri, 16. May 25, 11:51
