VEN Valhalla Terran MultiStage Shipyard

Post by DocMitch50 »

Hey All! i am new to X4 and wanted to share the first build i really put time into. i really enjoyed making this and took much inspiration from Agrefits' Olympic shipyard and his other "Starflower" type builds.
this is a multi stage build because it can be somewhat expensive and because i like the idea of upgrading an HQ station as the game goes on. the diffrent stages will be attached below, sorry in advance for the screenshot angles, i dont know how to set it up well.

Hey there Mitch, first of all. Let me tell you that i really like design language, and im very happy to inspire people like you to actually try and share their own builds, because as you said - inspiration comes in many ways..

I've had a look at your station, and thought i'd share a couple of flaws that i've learned the hard way when clipping station modules.

a) never clip the same modules into each other- as it might cause texture flickering (such as putting 2 large Terran Container Storages into each other)

b) Always keep docking bays and quick launch tubes in mind and refrain from obstructing them ( your Admin Modules tubes for instance are party blocked - what might cause problems in high attention)

c) im possible, for astetics try to clip smaller modules into bigger ones, so that the module gets swallowed at a whole. Preferably at places with clean or at least matching textures ( dont cut through windows, football fields, pools, places where ADs are hovering etc..)

And at last review your station everytime you change something too see potential flaws or glitches. either by using external view, or by flying around it.

Hope that helps. Keep up the work, i sure see some potential for great builds in the future.
