Bug with Split Plot and Dal becoming a ghost

Issue type: Quest bug/Dal is a ghost now

After initially advancing the Split plot, I progressed until the point where the coffin ship is supposed to undock from the funeral ship. I read from other bug reports years ago that undocking with your ship, instead of going into your spacesuit from the funeral-ship causes the coffin-ship to bug out. I got annoyed and left the mission area to retry it later, upon which I waited about an hour for it to undock. Until I blew up the funeral ship out of frustration.

Everything seemed fine until about 20-30 hours or so later I decided to start the Militia and Yaki plot. At some point after running around doing the long scans for the secret police lady, I started getting comm spammed by Dal after every 2 minutes or so. The comm prompt appears and immediately vanishes, and I can never pick up. I went to the HQ and noticed he was missing and realized he is somehow probably on the now non-existent funeral ship. Everything was working fine up until this point and I am now haunted by ghost Dal saying "We need to talk" constantly.

If this issue cannot be fixed, should I just consider this save somewhat bricked?

- Note, the save is modified because I used a mod, after giving up on the Split plot, to test out something with the Xenon. However I removed the mod afterwards so I imagine it should make no difference.

A question mark is how you were able to destroy the coffin ship which should be a plot ship and either be invulnerable or at the very least always respawn if lost.

Removing mods does not remove all their effects from previously modded save chains unfortunately. Game saves with gameplay issues cannot be 'recovered' unless the devs write and circulate a hotfix/patch that goes into a future release version to all, and modded saves can never be vanilla again.

No idea why I could destroy it then, I just blasted it with the hyperion and left after waiting for the undock and it never respawned. Guess I'll just have to do a new save then since Dal has made it insufferable.

If you can reproduce the issue in an unmodified game, can you provide a save before the issue, please? :)
