[#3704][7.5] VIG issuing "threats" when approaching already owned Erlking

Post by Calgor Grim »

It is possible for the player to capture the Erlking from VIG without themselves ever going near it using OOS boarding operations and scouting using other ships. As it has no guns it's pretty easy pickings right now... However when the player approaches their new owned flying junkheap/"death star wannabe" for the first time, the player still receives threat voice lines from VIG Keepsafe about it being owned and to stay away from it. Bit late for that syndicate, it's already mine!

Ideally the player should not receive these lines if they have already found a way to acquire it. Mind you shortly after the clip and saves when I boarded it I did get told "You have chosen death" and now VIG Keepsafe is marked as hostile. Again if I've already seized it then it's a bit late...

Version 7.5 (553255)
No other add-ons

Recording
From earlier in the save that will be posted where "VIG Base" tells me off from approaching it. Although by that point it was long since in my hands and parked in HC1. I'm passing it stood in the back of the X-Shuttle and receive the voice line.
Recording 2
I've sent the Erlking to Sanctum Verge with the intent on dealing with that annoying hive as I'm following it with the X-Shuttle managing my empire as the pilot does the job. The voiceline plays telling me off for approaching the "wreck". I can be seen not only flying past it but also getting a comm from my captain telling me he's got there.
Save file
Taken from just after recording 2.
(I have chosen to call it "threats" in the post title since lets face it, it's utterly meaningless at this point :D !)

I had this happen to me last night after remotely boarding the Erlking with a transport ship from 4 sectors away docked at a station. After finally managing to capture the Erlking, I made 1 marine the captain and ordered him to fly to Heretics End. I stayed parked where I was until the ship actually entered Heretics End before teleporting to the bridge where I was immediately contacted by VIG to stay away from the ship or else, then a few moments later they ordered their fleet to attack me. Perhaps a different message along the lines of 'You sneaky little bugger, we didn't even see you anywhere near our precious, just you wait till your father gets home' or something as equally intimidating :D

The warnings are supposed to be coming from the Keepsafe it's parked outside. Can't really call it sneaky when the large Shuyaku freighter parks up nearby full of 300 VIG bought marines, launches a flurry of boarding pods onto it in a half hour long operation, then it gets flown out of there spending an entire day in a different sector. For someone in VIG to *NOT* notice that going off and going missing, they need their eyes testing and every single person on watch needs to be sacked!

Then they only get around to notifying me a few days later to keep away from it after I've refitted it, recrewed it, resprayed it, get annoyed for 10 minutes before calming down afterwards which all just seems a bit sad. I almost want to give it back to them out of pity...almost.

Perhaps a better post-acquisition warning might be: "We know where all the bits and pieces you need to make this hulk useful are hidden, and we're not telling you, you thief. Good luck in finding them legitimately on your own!" :D
