X4: Foundations 7.60 Public Beta Starts Now!

We’ve just launched the 7.60 Public Beta for X4: Foundations, and we invite you to take part!

This is a purely technical update with the focus mainly on video memory management improvements, but also including various bug fixes to enhance overall stability and performance. There are no new gameplay features in this update - our main goal with 7.60 is to refine and optimize your playing experience.

If you'd like to participate and help us test 7.60, you can find instructions on how to join the Public Beta in our official forums.

As always, we appreciate your feedback! If you encounter any issues, please report them in our Public Beta Feedback Forum. Thanks for your support, and happy testing!

How Do I Take Part in the Public Beta?
Every player who owns X4: Foundations has the opportunity to download the new 7.60 Public Beta version. To ensure that beta participants are aware of the risks and rules involved, we ask all interested players to visit our forum (no registration required), where they will find the rules, disclaimers, and practical instructions for participating in the beta.

In case you missed it...
  • A little over a month ago, we released the massive "Flight Model Update" (aka 7.50) along with the X4: Hyperion Pack (DLC). If you missed it, be sure to check out our news on it, as this update brought some fundamental changes to X4. If you prefer watching a video instead of reading through the details, we highly recommend this one.

Thanks for continuing to work on updates . "Fixed exploring ships leaving undiscovered gaps." I hope this will help finding the missing Erlking blueprint data vaults in my game.

Even at Beta 1 stage this is proving to be a very good patch.

I generally stay away from situations where low FPS is likely, but now I can get into a heavy battle situations bringing the FPS down to 7, and the game recovers after the battle subsides, within a minute it brings the FPS back up to my FPS Cap of 60 set in NVidia Control panel (I cap the FPS to keep temperature down on my laptop).

For anyone who doesnt read the beta forum, Egosoft dev said that FPS recovery in formerly bad situations was one of their goals for this update.

Love all the fixes done too, especially for larger ships and combat.

Erlking vaults don't stay on the map like others btw. To find them with a scout you would have to be watching it the whole time, at a zoom level where data vaults even show up on the map.

Yes, that's what I've tried. I stay onboard the scout while it's exploring, so I can watch the map the whole time. You can find them later by typing DATA into the search.

Is this beta focusing primarily on performance or AI improvements?

I skipped over 7.50, going straight from 7.10 to this beta, and my performance is much worse in the beta. I suspect this has to do with "graphical improvements" made in 7.50. The graphics do look different from 7.10 - some things are obvious (like a ridiculous number of red spinning search lights on defense outposts), other things I can't put my finger on, except that "this looks / feels different". Whatever the case, my framerates are down compared to 7.10. I even switched back and forth to verify. I can handle 30 fps no problem, but 20s and teens in very early game just is not acceptable, not when I get 30-60 fps in 7.10 in the same areas.
