So i was pieceing togheter the X4 Timelines storyline about the Sohnen and remebered something that now is like a scratch on my brain and can't get rid of IT.
I remeber that 20 years ago I played X3 Reunion and it also featured a Sohnen, but it became clear at some point that he was a renegade Sohnen with kinda shady plans.
I don't remember exactly what was his plans.
I searched a bit on the internet and found very little info.He first sided with the Paranids and wanted to use them to build some jumpgates.
But the Paranids told him to get lost once they figured out things for themselves and that gate tech would allow them to control the trade lanes.
Then Sargon found Ion the Goner and showed him a hologram of what he claimed to be Earth and offered to help Ion building a gate to Earth.
Eventually they figured out that thing that the sohnen showed them was not Earth.
Then i remeber a scene or maybe i've read about Kyle and the AP Gunner and Kyle said that on the way to the XUniverse , the Gunner traversed Khaak space and the Khaak followed the ship and thus discovered the comunity of planets .
At first they watched from the shadows curious to learn until the Paranids discovered their Homeworld and started to mine it for Nividium thus provoking the attack in Presidents End, since the Khaak didn't distinguish between races.
Does anyone have any clue about more info concerning what the renegade Sohnen wanted all along?
I can't fiind anything about what exactly was that hologram that he claimed to be Earth. It looked like a planet but metallic and surounded by a forcefield.
What was actually his end goal?
And how or where do i have this ideea from about the AP Gunner and the Khaak ?
It was so long ago and can't fiind any source on the web

Section D of Helge Kautz's X Encyclopedia deals with the Ancients and how they created the mechanical-based Sohnen as their executive agents for interfacing with newer races and expediting the Ancients' three great objectives of preserving intelligent life, retarding the heat death of the universe, and ascending to a Type VI civilisation or beyond. Sargon as a renegade Sohnen doesn't get any mention there though.

Thanks for the input...
Yeah, maybe the whole renegade Sohnen was cheap and not canon anymore, considering Egosoft took the games in another direction after Reunion, nowdays telling the stories trough encyclopedia, sector descriptions and books mostly.
The guys who did the Xtended Mod for Reunion expanded a bit on the story but they never really finished it...the project is long dead anyway.
Who knows, we may never know now. X4 right now is great in all gameplay aspects but lacks a main story and protagonists...X2 did it best , X3 also but the story was a mess

Re: Questions about Sargon the Sohnen and the true first contact with the Khaak
Before the fall of the gates, not long after Brennan's arrival in the Community of Planets, a military project by the Argon Federation, called Project Providence, tried to re-engineer Xenon jumpdrive tech. The project was led by renowned quantum physicist Dr. Siobhan Inja Norman (she has an interesting back story, btw.) The ship the first jumpdrive was tested on was the AP Providence (a decomissioned former ship of the diplomatic corps). One of the early test jumps coincided exactly with a destructive event caused by the Xenon TF/CPUs (interesting story as well, but too long to go into here), and the AP Providence needed to take an evasive jump w/o proper destination calculations, and accidently ended up in Khaak space. That stirred them up good and what comes after is history

Cheers,
Helge aka Höllge
