Keyboard lockups

Hi, Can any one help with this?

PC Spec -
P4 1.5 Ghz
512 Mb RAM
Radeon 9200 256Mb
SoundBlaster Live
Over 300 Gb disk space
Logiteck Attack 3 Joystick
MS Wirless Multimedia Keyboard and mouse. (with new batts in both)

No errors found in DXDIAG

The game plays fine but suddenly the keyboard will lock up. The Joystick and mouse still work with no problems but not the keyboard. If I keep pressing the keys it will eventually work for a short time then lock up again.

I've tried disabling Norton AV and FireWall, but this didn't help.

Any suggestions?

A number of people have reported problems with Microsoft Wireless Keyboards. The first thing to do is to check the batteries. For some reason while playing this game, it seems to be more sensitive to batteries that are slightly weak.

If you have access to one, try playing with a non-wireless keyboard and see if you suffer the same problem.

I've tried new batteries (at least I think they were new). I'll try another set ad see how I get on.

I've seen another post suggesting that the problem is caused by the keyboard sending battery status info. If I have no luck with the new batteries, I'll dust off my old keyboard.

I can confirm that the game works fine with a normal keyboard, but the wireless keyboard consistently stops working in game, yet can be used to return to Windows mid-game.

Then when you return to the game again, it works for a minute or so, then stops responding again

It must be something with that keyboard design, as I use a Logitech wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse and they certainly work ok.

Well, I've dusted off the old wired keyboard and no lockups since.

Maybe a fix for 1.4???

Seeing the end of this thread
(I am now suffering severe lock ups as I get further into the game - using belkin wireless keyboard {cheap of me I know} & logitec mouse)
prompts this observation:

X-Tension had the same exact problem...which was cured with a later patch.

New batteries have not helped (the reciever works fine), so I guess it is back to the loft to get the old keyboard out...oh well.
By the way I have to hit the left shift button 5 times or so (stick keys) to come out, then back in X2 which helps for a while (not moving the cursor too quickly in menues/typing helps too)

Here's looking forward to 1.4....(oh & yes I do get the subtle screaming feeling reading the threads that it is time to change my graphics card )

Hmm no edit....anyways.

Just to confirm, tried replacing the 10 day old batteries & got about 25 mins good play, then intermittent fault (regular chronic attacks).

My old dusty 'wired' keyboard did solve the problem, but now my fingers & wrists are remembering why I changed this tough clunky slow thing...perhaps a keyboard down/upgrade is due too...sigh.

Got the same problem with my Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Optical too. It should be added to the post-it : "X2 Version 1.3 Known Issues: 15/04-23:50"
