Missiles are costly. They need a lot of silicon to keep production up and running, but they provide the best frontloaded DPS in the game, far more than even M2s can offer.

Are there any guides or anything like a basic manual for complete beginners ?
Have played some X games... X Beyond the Frontier & X2 The Threat & X3 Reunion & X3 Albion Prelude
Have time in those games... but not an expert by any means
But I know basically what the X game formula is & I like it
But never tried Litcubes Universe
I know this game is a total rework of the X game
Any links or info about how to go about playing Mayhem 3 Renegades welcomed

The game is essentially a mix between X3 and 4X games like Stellaris and Civ 6, but the core of an X game is still there. You start from simple beginnings and build up your empire by conquering territory, building stations, and building ships. I put some points below.
  1. Add-Ons is the latest expansion for Renegades. I would update with Renegades Add-Ons first; it's linked in the OP.
  2. Since you're a new player, I would start with easy or normal difficulty. Unlike vanilla difficulty which affects mainly early game, difficulty affects the rest of the game. Hard and insane are true to their names, and they are recommended once you know the ropes.
  3. Read the encyclopedia for detailed explanation about game mechanics.
  4. While you're playing, there are many tutorials throughout Renegades while you play on easy, normal, and hard.
  5. Because NPCs are far more aggressive than in vanilla, your first "boss fight" is your first war or the Renegades threat (see Renegades entry in the in-game encyclopedia), whichever comes first. I'm not sure for Steam Deck, but for Linux, someone on the forums found a way to get LU and Mayhem (which Renegades is built on) for Linux: viewtopic.php?t=473792

But I do remember how nice it was that LU has a wiki and a lot of stuff could be learnt with it alongside
