Hey. Cheers mate.
I am far away from this stuff, I had a good sense to not set my foot into Russia since 2015. And looks like for 10+ years more.
philip_hughes wrote: Sun, 25. Jan 26, 00:50 Next. Reading up on this thread now but its big. How's the general tone? Bots present? Majority against?
It varies. The pro war crowd usually comes here with conspiracy theories or facist idelogies of Russian superiority over Ukrainian people, or consider them to be less than, ones that "forgot to be Russian, and need to be taught". That's a real quote. As such, they usually break forum rules.

There's a very clear divide of two different realities of those who are pro and those who are against. I've zero topics I can discuss with pro war crowd, and that crowd includes some of my family and some of my friends over there. The divide in reality over this apparently dates back to 900AD.
philip_hughes wrote: Sun, 25. Jan 26, 00:50 Finally and this is serious... I'm developing some tech to help the ukranians. To say I'm well out of my depth is an understatement! If you want to help and want to do so in a way which is highly speculative but has the potential to completely flip the symmetry, id live to talk to you.
I could hear more over a PM.

I haven't heard much talk about Russia winning the war lately. At the 2025 rate of advance, how long will it take Russia to conquer Ukraine? And don't tell me that they only wanted the Eastern part because in 2022 they attacked Kyiv.

Kremlin thinks the war will be won between tomorrow and "many" years. They prepare the population for constant need of volunteer soldiers/kids.

Considering how no progress was made in what, 2 years? It'll take Russia a 1000 years.

What population that isn't in prison thinks is a bit hard to guess. Looks like people prefer not to talk about it. At most I get is that US and Russia should just divide and annex Ukraine for themselves and call it a day.

Because of course it's not about Ukraine but a historical geo politics, bla, bla, bla.

My question is, will Ukraine run out of drones first or will Russia of kids to send to attack the drones?

In January 2026 alone, 24 Ukrainian settlements were captured, but you believe Zelensky's false statements.

It's not Zelenskyy - you can take his statements or leave them.

But unlike previous wars, this one allows us to track the position of the front real time by a large number of metrics, so whether you think Zelenskyy is credible or not, if he makes claims of advances, he's objectively seen to be telling the truth.

(EDIT: as Felter says below, I am unsure if he IS actually making such claims; if he is, however, they're supported by fact, which can be observed independently of his claims).

I don't understand this, as Zelensky never talks about these sorts of things. As for Russian capturing all those settlements, you have to take this with a pinch of salt I'm not saying they have or haven't, but Russia right now has a tendency to send small contingents of soldiers behind enemy lines to enter settlements and raise a Russia flag and announce they have captured the settlement, of course they are either captured or killed shortly after.

There are some half decent Russian video bloggers around, not many mind you, that are currently saying Russia is in a pretty bad shape right now where their troops are running out of both water, food and ammunition, they have little to no tanks left, while their air defences are pretty much none existent and that is Russians who are saying these things not Ukrainians. The last major Russian attack I heard of, they were using snow mobiles, which is fine to get from a to b but not when b has someone with a gun shooting at you.

There is also (as far as we know) the new offensives by the Ukrainians which could be on two fronts, it is supposed to be pushing the Russians back with the Ukrainians liberating a few major villages, once again Ukraine is not talking about any of this, it is all coming from third parties, as I said Zelensky does not talk about what is going on, so I don't understand your statement.

Either way, both parties have been taking and losing land recently, it's just now it just so happens it's the Russians that are losing more than Ukraine is, but next week it could easily be the other way around. To be honest, I personally think the war is pretty much at a stalemate, right now with neither side having any major advantage over the other, I think Russia still has the manpower advantage with no hardware to back them up, but Ukraine has the hardware to kill those troops if they try anything but don't have the manpower to do any serious damage themselves.

You, could, look at the map.

How many people were killed by the way for those liberated settlements? Mhhhhmmmm?

Against my better judgement, lets reply to an obvious bait

lets take a look

notice the progress of the Russian invasion between Nov 2022 and Feb 2026. Using finger math (when I put a finger to a largest destruction aka "gain", translated from Russian), I counted 12 fingers. That's 48 years to go through Ukraine at the best speed possible, without controlling it. If we use a 1/10th finger, that's 480 years.

That's considering that a Russian tank now a latest model golf cart, that bravely faces off drones.

On the other hand, lets look at the economy and human cost to Russia itself. Poverty, lack of education, death, violence and fascism are now important parts of life - and funny enough - by design. It's shadow of what the country was 26 years ago. It's nowhere near highly flawed Soviet Union 36 years ago. The country will be better off if it were to collapse sooner than later, for all its people.

This is true. On the other hand, though, Russia is steadily running out of allies - first Syria, then Venezuela, now Iran.

This is not for one minute saying that the Americans' actions are good, but everything has impacts on world affairs.
