Ships and weapons characteristics in FL

Are there any changes to ships and weapons? And besides a few new ships are there any additions to weapons pool?

X fanatic. More of an X3 fanatic.
What about X4? Nah, I prefer a space simulator rather than a walking simulator.

There are a few new ships. No new weapons, some minor adjustements/fixes.

I think the thing that will have most impact is the way TS class has been rebalanced and due to that also the TM/TP class. Hopefully TS will have more flavour now and not just have "one" right option.

while there are no new weapons, there are some weapons that are more readily available now

I wish for a fix for FBL as well. The poor man's flak !

Are there changes to ship variant handling?
Such as converting between variants at shipyards/HQ or maybe "ship refit kits" for use on carriers similar to the station upgrade kits?
Anything which may complicate mods adding new variants?

Any changes in how weapons and load-outs are handled on ships?
What are equipment kits?

The HQ has an improved load out function, and carriers can make use of it automatically for its managed ships, among other additional things

Equipment packs allow you to carry and install equipment like jumpdrives to your ships

Is it like a ware list, able to contain any ware, or equipment only?

No it's a consumable that you can carry multiple off in your ship. When you use it, it will install a set of wares. There is one available for jumpdrives/nav mk1
