Can friendly fire be disabled if you have a faction rep of +10 or +20?
This will allow us to aid stations under attack by the enemy with our fleets, and also let us help allied ships under attack without suffering any relationship penalties due to inevitable friendly fire while in sector.
It should work like this:
Turret or main gun hits allied +20 rep ship, ship takes no damage, does not turn red, does not yell at you.
If you want to be able to target an allied ship for boarding or other offensive belligerent actions, we could have an additional menu to enable friendly fire once more. Or one could simply delcare war.
The community would love you.

Re: [Request] Remove Friendly Fire
I found Apologize for attack on nexus mods:
https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations ... escription
It goes a long way to fix the issues I sometimes have. But a full disabled friendly fire mod would be grand.
What are other people's thoughts on this?

Re: [Request] Remove Friendly Fire
I've noticed that in x3:tc when found out that using ship with cluster flak arrays to protect stations is not a very good idea.
But seems removing friendly fire will turn battles into a mess which does not require of much control from the player.
Instead we need to do somewhat sophisticated planning and apply some caution.

There is no planning or caution available to NPC ships under your control, they will inevitably fire on allied targets and make them hostile if you are close to allied targets. The only alternative, which is a tactical failure, is to stand by and let your allies get destroyed, then attack. I have had this happen several times, sometimes I've been forced to mow down allies that I wanted to help. Very immersion breaking.af_2017 wrote: ↑Thu, 25. +1 for option to disable friendly-fire somehow, because it is an annoying issue in station defense or in bigger battles with allies being involved, and I have many allies
Usually, you have to go out-of-sector and manage the fight on the boring map again, which is so disappointing ... the same with the faction loss and turncoats, if you try to deal with it in-sector.
I even would accept instant compensation of the friendly-fire caused damage... if they just stop escalating and backstabbing. If you do not have the money or reputation, then they still can go nuts.

By the "planning and caution" i mean that you most likely will not not fire at enemy if allied ship is in line of fire because the ally will get damaged also.Exitialis101 wrote: ↑Thu, 25. So seems this is not a matter of friendly fire but related to AI/npc implementation which controls turrets and ships.
Another approach you probably know is to teleport yourself to another sector that will start another kind of simulation which does not have friendly fire at all. But that removes "pew-pew" from your gameplay as you will just look at the battle without participating in it.

It usually breaks when allied ships are trying to shot fighters with their turrets and there is an allied ship behind that fighter, it does not seem to take that into account, only if there is an allied ship in-front. Playing the game via the map is an alternative to avoid friendly fire, but not for those who like to be in the thick of it, like me.af_2017 wrote: ↑Thu, 25. Re: [Request] Remove Friendly Fire
Allied Stations going red on friendly fire from AI is the #1 biggest detractor for me when being swarmed by Xenon. I would prefer a setting by the devs rather than a mod if possible.
