Satellites not being placed as instructed?

Post by sekkhoasmadi »

I've had a suspicion while playing the last couple days that my AI controlled scout ship has been misplacing some satellites. I'll queue up a stack of 10 satellite placements right next to stations and warp gates, and when I come back some of them will have been placed waaay far away (outside of the range of the satellite). I know the satellite drifts a small amount when they get placed based on the speed of the ship, but not by the amounts that I'm seeing on the map.

I even started taking notes of which side and how far away I instructed the AI to place them, and several are waaay off. Any ideas as to why the AI ship is placing them so far away?

It probably is the drift, sometimes it's anything but 'slight'. Try dragging a short 'fly here' command into the order queue in front of each one and see if it stops. They slow down for that more reliably for whatever reason.

That's a genius move, great idea thanks for that!

Also - for anyone reading this in the FuTuRe... standing on the ship with your pilot in control seems to work smoother as well. They behave better when properly... monitored.
