Lockboxes with no locks to shoot off?

Hey all,

During a "Priceless Artwork Stolen" mission, the ship dropped a Lock Box rather than the actual cargo directly like it used to. No problem, I thought, I'll just target and shoot off the locks...erm, no locks!

I looked all over the Lock Box, but there were no visible locks - I've done LOTS of Lock Boxes of different designs during my game time, I know what they look like. I tried targetting the box and checking for sub-targets - I have a mouse button mapped for that - which did nothing. I wondered if this was a "special" box I just collected....nope, I just bump into it, how about one I just blow the whole box up? Nope, mission failed.

Is this a known issue? Is there another way to open these lockless Lock Boxes?
