Does the univers expands itself like X3 ?

i have come upon some inactive jump gates and i was wondering if those non reachable sectors will be available later on if the universe expands?
By way of expand, i mean inner and outer sector, whereas inner if the sector in question begins populating itself with stations

Another note for the moderator team of the X-universe forums, it's been like years since i last entered in the forum with the same username, this account is new and i would therefore like to, if it's possible, if a moderator can cancel the other one permanetly so i can assign the old e-mail to this account please

The various factions absolutely build new stations over time. In fact it's quite noticeable that they seem to do it based on what they have access to. HOP for example, being hostile to everyone, tend to massively expand their economy because they have to produce everything themselves:

Backstory is that the jump gates got shut down, isolating away all the old sectors we saw in X3 (and further back).

We know ES is releasing the Split this year, which will involve a bunch of new sectors (confirmed in news).

Since ES has been striving to not require a new game on a new update, I strongly suspect these very same inactive jump gates will become active and connect to new sectors as more races are added over the next couple years.

Keep an eye on Heretic's End. This sector has swapped from Paranid, to Argon, to Terrans back in X3. Would love to see a bunch of militant Terrans knock the Argons around again.

Two DLCs confirmed for 2019 (SPlit and ???) so that's a bunch of sectors....it's entirely possible 1-2 sectors might get added for free if new features require it...and I do hope so. Maybe a sector or two not connected to the highway that has somehow relevancy for the player/factions so action would still be going on there....that would be nice.

Why do you guys keep assuming that Heretic's End would connect back to Terrans? I mean, it's possible, but with the way the network got rehashed, it's equally possible it'd lead somewhere else entirely.

Making Heretic's End connect to anything other than Terran space would be... heretical.
