Hey people. I am trying to figure out the following:
A) What locations are really good for mining/resource production? (ore, silicon, methane, hydrogen, etc).
B) What numbers for # / km3 are 'good' for these?
Right now, the Resource Probe reports a good amount of Silicon and Ore in Argon Prime... 16 km/3 ! But this system is so RIGHT IN YOUR FACE that the gamer in me says it CANNOT POSSIBLY be the best for Ore and Silicon... what gives?
Likewise, the numbers for gas are always so tiny that I'm not sure what's good and what isn't.
So.... ???

Re: Good Mining/Gas Locations?
Resource probes only cover a tiny area (current encylclopaedia data says range=3km). Try flying around a bit & dropping some more..

Re: Good Mining/Gas Locations?
The best I've seen so far for ore/silicon was something like 22/km³, while doing a prospection mission for the Teladi in Grand Exchange III. (The bastards were asking for 19/km³. Took me a while to find it)
I haven't really searched outside of these missions. Honestly, this is probably where I'll set up my mining bases. It's close to HQ, and pretty much central in the universe.
Lotta pirates, though. It should make things interesting.

Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.
Some people never develop beyond this stage.

Re: Good Mining/Gas Locations?
I'm sorry I've got no answer to the question, because I'm looking for it also !!
I'd like to find a good spot to harvest ice.
I deployed a bunch of probes, some of the sectors are too covered now, making them ugly on the map.
Please there must be some of you with the answers. Those who made billions ?

Re: Good Mining/Gas Locations?
Buy a miner at the Argon Wharf. Select Max settings then immediately set to min settings (this gives you a better pilot - its a bug). Remove all the consumables you dont need for a ship you wont fly except maybe a few sats to drop off now and again remotely. Do add the Docking Computer Mk2 though just in case you need to manually land it at some point. Cost about 300-400k a ship.
Set to mine everything on its list.
Set it free.
Do the same for every main area (basically everywhere with a Wharf) and build up to a fleet of about 4 in each area. I have about 15-20 currently in total throughout the Universe.
This seems to be a good balance on not swamping the economy completely but keeping a steady income.
Then go do other stuff you choose (build a fleet, build a station network etc)
