Boron in a bubble

So I found an interesting official artwork, one of the Steam backgrounds, which shows a Boron 'walking' (floating? ) on a station with other races with some kind of water bubble over them:

There was a lot of discussion about how Boron could be introduced as a race without flooding ships full of water or some such nonsense, so I guess this is one possible approach

Not going to post spoilers in case you haven't done it yet, but if you haven't done it yet, start the ship mode tutorial, there is a boron in the game you interact with.

they did say there will be no real boron race in the game when released, however they have stated that they will be introducing races in an expansion.
