MKI or MKII Docking Computer does nothing
So I've been flying around going to stations etc and docking fine, then I notice Docking Computers and decide to get a MKII. The thing is, it doesn't do anything. I've read elsewhere that at a certain range it should just sort of kick in and land you. Unfortunately nothing I do or can find, makes it do anything at all. Any ideas?

Make sure you actually bought the Docking Software Mk2 (and not just selected but never purchased it). Then, once you have it, you just fly to the docking port you want to land on. There your ship takes over automatically, you cannot miss that. If this does not work, you either do not have the Docking Software Mk2 yet (can happen, see above) or it is a bug.

Just in case you're expecting something else, you still have to request docking as normal. For me, MK2 then kicks in as soon as you get near the landing hologram.

the docking computer is not a "5km range warp docking computer" like in x3
no docking computer: need precise position to dock (hard to dock)
MK1 docking computer : more tolerance on your positioning (best one for fun)
MK2 docking computer :"on the fly" version just go on the parking place

my textid range: 909700-909799

Tried both with my Elite.
The Mark 1 does help only a little when you are close to the landing pad but not perfectly aligned yet.
Mark 2 acts as if there was a super magnet on the pad
Either it's a bug in your game, or you forgot to request docking, or it's not really installed on your ship.

Thanks guys for all your replies. Well it turns out that playing at 3am isn't a clever idea... I could have sworn that I bought the DC along with all the other software upgrades I bought but apparently I didn't. Got one now and working as expected.

They work fine. MK I requires you to be very close to the pad. MK II lets you be further away before it activates but it is still not very far.Nagual wrote: ↑Tue, 4.
